Because it hurt more to love you and not have it reciprocated, than to end things and move on...after a year if you weren't ready to express the same depth of feeling toward him, as he had toward you, then it probably wasn't ever going to happen and he knew that...
Why should he spend time with someone and "settle" when he could be free to meet someone who will be just as crazy about him as he is about them? It also allows you to find such a situation, if you choose to...
Would you stay with someone who didn't love you? What would be the point? This life is too short to waste it being unhappy or unfulfilled...especially when we can take steps to change that!

Because people get tired of giving and not getting as much in return. Why should he stay if the relationship is one sided? WHy haven't you been telling him how you feel? Why didi he have to feel that he cared for you more than you did him? Why are you even asking why? You stated all the reasons that he walked away. And they were reason enough to. Don't ever think that a person won't get tired of the crap you dish out. Obviously, he wanted more than what you were willing to give him and I say good for him.

No matter how much someone loves someone else, if they are the one putting in all the effort and it is one-sided then there is no point in continuing. Relationships are give and take, it can't be all one person. Maybe he didn't think you loved him as you never opened up with your feelings. Do you love him? Why weren't you able to open up with your feelings? I think he was right to walk away from things, it will give you time to figure out what your true feelings are. If you do truly love him, and are able to express that to him, maybe he will come back to you.

When you say "walk away" do you mean that literally or as in ending the relationship? But i'll take it as ending the relationship...well i'd assume since he felt it was one sided he was probably hurt and could not go on feeling that way. If you loved someone and you knew they didn't feel quite the same, wouldnt you "walk away"? Think about it.
If you love something set it free, if it comes back then it was meant to be.

Yes if he doesnt think you will ever love him back. Once that big L word is out of the bag on one side and the other doesnt say it, its going all down hill from there. But, if you dont love him, then its for the best. No sense in being with someone just to have someone.

he walked away because it hurt too much to stay. you said he loved you more than anything, and you don't feel as strongly. well, it looks like he got tired of waiting for you to feel the same way about him and moved on to find someone who would.

It takes two to make a relationship. Why should he stay with you if you don't feel the same way as he does?
You either love him or you don't. If you love him, you should have told him. If you don't, it shouldn't bother you that he walked away.

He walked away because he was upset and didn't want to say things that could make matters worse, Maybe that was the best thing he could think to do at the moment.

i think he have done a right decision... he just want to give you some time to realize how important he is to you and to be sure of how you feel... the best thing to do is to find yourself and ask...do i really love him???! if he truly love you, he will come back at the right time...where you're ready to love him as much he loves you!!! so feel free to realize your feelings unto him...

Maybe because he didn't want to be hurt by you any more. People like to be in the habit of getting on with their lives- especially if they know they're dealing with a lost cause.
