White knotty dreads?

If I want to dread can I slowly ease into it and if they start will I be forced to chop them off if it looks horrible? any tips?

if they completely lock, then you'll have to cut them off. but by that point you should have decided already if you like them or not because it takes 6 months to 1 and 1/2 years for dreads to lock, depending of hair texture. more than likely, if after a couple months, you start to see you're not liking the way they look, you'll have to carefully comb and wash your hair out
