The most enjoyable weddings I have attended are those where the bride and groom considered the GUESTS while planning. The biggest mistake that brides make is bending etiquette rules and cutting corners in order to suit her own desires.

Etiquette is not a bunch of rules made to make life less fun. Etiquette is designed to make people comfortable. Inviting every single adult to bring a guest or escort. An open bar. A band that plays music that people will enjoy dancing to. Really good food. Dress codes that suit the weather and time of day. Clear directions to the church, reception site, etc. Transportation to all events for out of town guests. The list goes on...

Obviously this can be expensive. I would encourage any bride to limit her guest list to the couple's closer friends and family and entertain them better. That means that instead of inviting 50 single friends without dates, invite 25 with dates. I realize that this approach may not be popular, but I am passionate about this. That means serving fewer people better food. Or it means stretching your budget a little. Whatever wedding you have, really think about what makes the guests most comfortable when it comes to planning a reception. This may be YOUR day, but whether or not the guests truly enjoy themselves will ultimately be a big part of how you remember this very special moment in your life.

I spend a great deal of time at weddings as I am a wedding planner so this is a hard one... I could talk about weddings for ages, instead I will just give an over view of some of my favourites.
I went to a bonny and clyde themed wedding was cool, the boys were in zoot style suits, and had play guns and the hats and shoes and everything, they looked really good... and the bride and brides maids were just in normal dresses for a wedding you know... Was awesome, cos they had the cars and stuff to go... they also got their guests to dress in the whole bonny and clyde era, and they just told the guys which suits they couldnt wear so their were no match ups. What made this so great is that all the guests made an effort and everyone was dressed to theme. the reception was great fun as they hired a swing band and decorated the hall to look like the cocobongo or whatever it is called out of the mask... Was really fun, they also hired a professional dance pair to show the guests how it was done, and their first dance was a cool jive style dance. They were a fun loving couple and their awesome theme made the event a real experience to remember.
Another one i planned was really cute it was the couples 50th wedding anniversary and they recreated their wedding from the 50s was just really sweet to see the couple do that.

Anyway in general, weddings are greatest when you can see the love and passion the couple have for each other even when they are on other sides of the room from each other. Love is what makes a great wedding Love and joy and all that jazz

The most enjoyable wedding I attended was for a girlfriend of mine. I was maid of honor and they got married on a secluded beach in the Camden Islands. The ceremony was beautiful and simple, We wore no shoes and the surf was washing over the hems of our dresses. Everyone was in good spirits and immediately after the vows were done and over with, the limo driver took us roadtripping to a little town called "Hell"....the groom rode shotgun. The bride was attacked by some wild chickens and despite everything going wrong that possibly could, the sincere love those two shared on that beach is still very visible in their lives today five years later. All because they decided to go against the idea of the big dramatic wedding the parents wished for (that would have put them into debt), and did things their own way. It still reminds me that all the fancy decorations and expensive dinners can't replace what the day is truly about.

considering that most of my family is very religious and have about 2 hour weddings, i would say the best wedding i ever went to was a 10 minuete wedding. It wasn't cheap or vegas style or anything, they just got to the point and said their things. Now 10 mineuetes is a bit extreem, but i think that when you have to say every freaking things that comes to you mind at a wedding it gets annoying to the audence, i know it's your big day but why do you have to make 200 people sit through two hours of it? why can't your big day be reduced to 1 hour, and all the extra be saved for later with just your husband?

I'm not trying to be anal here, but the best wedding I went to was my own. Even though I didn't enjoy it half as much as my guests, since I was nervous, was unable to eat and in a dreamy mode lol. But, I remember all the food being really tasty, especially the deserts! And it was much more organized that any other weddings I went to. Needless to say, I was the centre of attention, so that didn't hurt either! =)

Casual relaxed, well organized and the brinde/groom, spent time enjoying all the guests and activities.
It was an afternoon wedding, a real dinner, dance and breakfast buffet at 10 am the next day. It was super special.

It was my best friends neighbours wedding. They were from Africa and we were the only white people there but boy was it good. Great food, really a happy experience. Everyone was soooo nice and free spirited. It wasn't very formal like traditional weddings, more love was involved. Lots of people!

It was an old fashioned wedding that just rejoiced life and family. It was very sentimental, joyous, and lots of fun. It was simple but very lovely. People were deeply moved and everyone had a marvelous time. Parents and grandparents were honored, and everyone told stories of love about the bride and groom.

My daughter's. The wedding and reception were held in the same place. People were seated, watched the wedding from their table, then got served their meal. We also had a limo to take people from the wedding to their hotel or home. I think open bar all night helped too.........
