I live in the midwest and work in a meat dept.We have lamb all the time in the store however I think alot of stores that do not have the high traffic don't carry it because it is a litttle pricey per pound, for as small as a cut of lamb is. especially the loin which is the smallest and the most expensive running around 9.99 a pound.People would rather spend their money on meat that will feed I few more people.

Wow...I thought I was the only one with this problem. I guess that food has evolved...and the US is a real beef-eating nation now.
Lamb is seen as kind of ethnic....Greeks and some Arabs still eat it and carry it in markets in their local neighborhoods.
I went to WalMart and they had no lamb and no mint jelly. I don't think that they care for it in the south, either.

Well, I think that red meat in general is more expensive to process than let's say chicken. Simply put, you can't find it becuase the demand isn't there. In fact US consumption for all red meat including lamb has been decreasing. Why? Well, here's is a link to an informative article by the USDA: http://www.ers.usda.gov/publications/wrs011/wrs011g.pdf
Hope this helps!

You can still buy lamb in Sams Club (Wall Mart), it is very big in England, now I live here in the US, I even have to make my own Mint Sauce, as the offering here is a joke.

Lamb is still popular in England and Australia. I don't know why it isn't so poplar in the USA. I guess because pork is so much cheaper, it put sheep ranchers out of business.
