Even though Jerusalem is not mentioned in the Koran, Muslims believe that Muhammad rose to heaven from there. More importantly, though: Israel is a thorn in the Muslims' side because it is the only Westernized country in the Mid-East, the only democracy, and the only Jewish country. This is why they have said countless times that their wish is "to push the Jews into the sea."
Additionally, Muslims believe that Islam, since it came after Judaism and Christianity, makes both Judaism and Christianity null and void. This is why Muslims build mosques on sites which are holy to other religions, like the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem where the Temple once stood.

I believe this subject is like flogging a dead horse.

Oh, btw, the Koran is actually made up of the Torah and the Injeel with the Hadiths of Mohammed etc.

So, technically speaking, the Muslims must also believe that the land of Canaan is for the Israelites; otherwise, they'd be guilty of blasphemy against the Koran.

I believe that if they are left alone, without any of this outside "opinion-ation" the Israeli Jews and Muslims will be able to sort out their problems themselves. After all they've been doing that for millenniums.

There are many land disputes that are many years old, which is the basis of the claim of those people you are calling Muslim. It is about their sovereignty. The UN created Israel after WWII without much re guard to the people there already.

The was still a lot of racism at that time, instead of working to solve problems, solutions were fostered upon many people. No one likes to be told the land that generations of the same family had lived on was being given away.

it's not that Israel is important to Muslims but Israel is important to Palestinians (who are mostly Muslim Sunnite) cos it was their land, there was a Palestinian State until in 1920s Belfore signed a paper that gave Israel the power to create a State in Palestine and chase away the Palestinians. With the help of England the Israel people started coming to take Palestine from the people and slowly Jews were brought to live their. On one hand Europe wanted to get rid of all the Jews that lived there so it was a gr8 idea to send them to live in Palestine and on the other the Israelis were claiming that Israel (where Palestine was located) is lawfully theirs cos it was written in the Torah. Then USA came and helped Israelis populate and kill and chase away Palestinians.
Of course Palestinians were mad and wanted their land back and since they were mostly muslims and the area is populated by muslims mostly (except for Lebanon where we have equal amount of Christians and muslims) so Arab muslims helped palestinians to buy weapons and fight the jews (btw muslims hate jews and the other way around).
Finally Jerusalem is considered a Holy Land by all jews, muslims and christians. In Islam when you do the Hajj thing you go to Mecca and u have to go the Aqssa Mosque in Jerusalem. Also Christians have churches and other monument where christ passed in Bethlehem and Jerusalem.

I don't understand either, Why Israel is important to only Jews. While Muslims and Christians also claim to be the holy land. I strongly believe the root cause of terrorism in the world today from there.!

Many of the Jewish settlers SOLD their property to Palestinians. Not all, but many. Israel is important to all three predominant faiths because it is a holy place. Muslims go all the way back to Abraham in their belief, but they in no way believe that God was so superficial as to alot a piece of dirt to a race thus declaring it "chosen". There are even Christians that don't buy this one.
