There are so many different kinds. Taste until you find one you like.

I would say yes, alcoholic drinks are an acquired taste. You have to make an effort to enjoy them. Cigarettes are an acquired taste too (I don't smoke). Anything toxic will be I suppose. Sometimes I have a few weeks or months off the booze and caffeine to clear my body out and whenever I start again the first few times I try it it tastes kind of strange, unpleasant even, especially beer.

It's more like an acquired feeling...no one really likes to drink gallons of beer...they just want the buzz.....it is pleasant to drink wine but hard alcohol burns.....it once again is all about the effect...or else people would drink non alcoholic beverages.
There's nothing wrong with responsible drinking...but practicing..habitual drunks will not inherit the kingdom of god...there was a young man brought before the high priests by his parents..they had deemed him worthy of death and told the parents to cast the first stones...in Isreal the whole nation was only as strong as its weakest link...so the weak link..the drunkard was killed....it was also for a warning to all so that they would all have fear.

So drink responsibly and cautiously. Do not get drunk.

Alcohol by itself has a terrible taste, but I have liked alcoholic beverages. There are good tasting beers, whiskeys, rums, etc. but in general a non-alcoholic beverage will taste better than an alcoholic beverage. Some mixed drinks are really good too.

If you continue to drink alcohol you will probably start to like it over time. I don't personally understand why someone would want to acquire a taste they don't like but its your choice. I personally liked alcohol since my first time drinking but most a lot of people seem to have to acquire the taste.

Yes, it's acquired. It's also capable of being a very bad habit. Consider yourself blessed if you dislike it -- it is a toxin, after all. If your taste dislikes it, it's your body telling you something important.

Follow your taste. You'll miss some fine wines, some good sniffs of excellent cognac, and some tasty brews. But behind each of these is a risk, and many gallons of stuff that most people can't handle very well, and a lot time time poorly spent.

The best thing you have in life is health and time. Treat these with respect. Always follow your taste and judgment, and when you like something, keep in in moderation.

I'm not AA, but I'm qualified to encourage to you regard abstinence as a viable option.

I'm like you - I just don't like the taste of alcohol. I will sometimes have a glass of something but after the one glass I am happy to drink soda/soft drinks. I also find it amusing to watch the antics of people who have consumed a lot of alcohol. I can still have a good time without alcohol and usually end up being the designated driver, which I don't mind.

It sure is. I went to Switzerland and had beer and boy, is it an acquired taste. The fumes are just all around you and you take a sip and it's just coarse and dry. But I guess a lot of what we drink and eat locally is acquired taste.

there are many types of alcohol, but i've noticed that the cheap stuff is always more harsh. cheap vodka reminds me of hairspray and the more expensive stuff tastes much better. but yes, i think it is an acquired taste. i never used to like wine and now i love it. i never used to like dark beers and now i can't drink light beers anymore because they just don't have flavor like the darks. it just takes time! :)

and for the record... i only drink a few times a month...sometimes just a glass of wine with dinner (directed to comment above...i drink wine because i like the taste...not to get drunk...that usually happens after the 2nd glass! :P)

You can eventually get used to some beers. Never Heineken, though. Actually, after 12 or 13 you can't really taste the difference between a good beer and a bad one, but whatever.

Yes, it's an acquired taste. Keep trying different things until you find something you like to drink. Although I still can't stand beer.

If you've tried several times, you won't like it. Alcohol does have an aquired taste. But lets look at the facts here. most people don't drink wine for the taste or health of it. they drink to loosen up, forget, or simply get drunk.
