Registered Nurse Here; Sorry hun, but with this much pain, I suggest you go to the Emergency Room. Or the nearest 24 hour store such as Wal-Mart. Purchase Extra strentgh Anbesol, this is a temporary fix, but it works instantly. Nothing is worse than a terrible tooth ache. Also don't lay your head down on a pillow, this increases blood flow to the area and in return increases the pain. If you must ride it out. Try propping pillows up behind you or sleeping in a recliner. Any thing to keep your head above your heart level. This want give much pain relieve but some.

Although I hope you have made it to sleep by now, here is my standard advice...

In addition to using the pain medication of your choice, sleep on an extra pillow to elevate your head. Sleep on the side that does NOT have a toothache. If that doesn't work, you can move to a recliner or the sofa so you can keep your head really elevated. This will minimize the blood flow to the area and therefore minimize the throbbing and pain. This might help you make it through the night until you can see a dentist.

I would recommend hot or cold packs. You can do ice in a baggy with a towel wrapped around it. Or take a wash cloth and put really hot water on it, or wet it and put it in the microwave for a few secs. Make sure you wrap this too with a towel, you don't want to get burned.
Also, a couple asprin wouldn't hurt. Try two tylenol and two advil. That should help until you're able to get to the dentist.

Rinse with warm salt water. Then get hot water bottle wrapped in towel- apply to your jaw. This should numb the pain. If it's an abscess, you could try lancing with a sterile needle-be careful! This is an extreme procedure- I'd hate to recommend it to anyone else- worked for me though, after more rinsing with saline solution.

You can crush some aspirin and put a little bit of oregno oil or crushed leaf in the mix with it.I personally have gone to our local feed store and purchased penicillan in liquid form for horses.I can't say that I reccommend it to you,but it is up to you if you want to try it.It took away my tooth infection in a matter of hours(or at least the pain).

If you have any anbesol or oragel you can apply that. Because it is pretty close to 9 (when a lot of dentists open) you could just try staying up till you can go to a drug store or grocery store (a lot of them open early.) I'm really sorry about your pain!
