One of the best remedies at home for a cut, rip, sore or open wound is warm salt water.
I had to do this during the summer to my 7 y/o grandson. He was hysteric after ripping his toenail & was bleeding. He calls it the magic water if he gets an injury after this. I witnessed my grandad doing this so many times & always thought "OUCH",will burn, but it doesn't, It soothes heals and takes the pain away.
Take a bowl-say quart size, fill 3/4's full of warmest water & add a heaping tablespoon of table salt-from the shaker or from the dispenser box. Dump salt in the water, lay your hand down into the salt water solution and swoosh it around gently to stir the salt, & soak it for 15-20 minutes. It will not burn nor have a stinging pain when doing this old time simple procedure.
Do this several days, the salt will actually cure the bruise, stop the pus and definitely stop the pain. Do not rinse off, but wrap a clean rag around it and fasten with a medical type tape or a band-aid (to the gauze, not directly to wound). It needs to breathe & not be tightly bound-up.
If it begins to throb-may need to put arm in a sling so the blood will not run down to the sore finger. Do this several days & will see a healing effect from the first time.

OUCH! that sounded like it hurt!
best thing to do would probably put some antibacterial salve on it, like Neosporin, so it doesn't get infected. If its still oozing pus, it might have been infected! Yeah, but just do that salve thing, and keep a bandage on it for a few weeks. Nail injuries take a loooooong time to heal. I don't think you should see a doctor but keep an eye on it, if its still oozing pus in a few days or has turned an odd shade, like yellow or reddish-orange, then it is probably infected. THAT'S when you see a doctor!
hope you get better, and that this helps!

If pus is coming out it is infected. You probably need to go to the doctor to have an antibiotic prescribed. You could try to clean it at home with peroxide and anti-bacterial ointment.

Hi, you might have infection in it. I would soak it in warm water if can't because of the pain, put hydrogen peroxide, if really brave put rubbing alcohol on it. Take ibprofen 2 tablets. At night, our bodies feel more pain. Than during the day. Put a loose bandage on it.Because it might really throb if its tight. If you have puss in the morning call your doctor, you might need a antibiotic. If all else fails my sister had a infection on her pierced ear lobes. And I told her to rub Vicks on them. She was so desperate, she did it. And it worked. Good luck!

PUS = INFECTION...the nail region is very prone to nasty things like fungus and bacteria growth because of the moisture-filled creases. see a doctor, do you really want to wait until the pus starts turning funky colors??...
