I was in a resturant in Texas last week, and was approched by someone. He started talking in a angry voice, but not in english. I looked at my friend several times to see if he heard absolutly nothing as well. Then he bagan to speek broken english. My Friend and myself didn’t make this racial at all. He kept saying “F*** Bush.” and stating that Sadam and Bush were working together, and that Sadam was #1. We told this idiot, “If you like him so much, leave, and go help him.” Then he accused us of not liking Mexico or Mexicans. Again, we did not make this racial. This idiot also started saying that “Texas” is a mexican name, so this area is Mexico.
I know that if he would have said that to the wrong Marine, Seal, or any Armed Services Member for that matter, he would have ended up in the hospital.

Remember the Alamo! We may have lost the battle but we won the war.
Mexico lost the war and the right to the state of Texas a long time ago.
Also E.P. (and several others) are correct, the name Texas came from the Indian word Tejas meaning friend.

Texas comes from the word Tejas meaning "friend" and it is what the early Spanish explorers called the Hasinai Native Americans they encountered. As for it being part of Mexico, Texas declared it's independence and Mexico was unable to defeat the U.S. so it still belongs to us.

We have Native American names for many cities and states, but they don't "belong" to the Native Americans any more than anyone else. We have French names of cities and towns in Louisiana (Baton Rouge), but they don't belong to France. We have Spanish named cities, towns and states (Colorado, California, San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, etc) but they don't belong to Mexico or Spain. We have names of towns and cities derived from many countries, but the U.S. is still the United States of America. Another country can't claim a state or city in the U.S. simply because it's 'name' is derived from that country. Those people are uneducated. The U.S. won Texas, Mexicans need to get over it.

Texas received its name from their pronunciation of the Indian word, "Tejas" (friends or allies). the Tejas formed a group of united Indian tribes that lived in what is now the northeastern part of the state. and no it's not Mexico,, was before, 1836, when Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie and the others kicked butt.. along with Houston

There are a lot of people who are confused about why the monstrously insane War On Drugs has been allowed to continue for as long as it has. They are mistakenly under the impression that it is primarily due to the corruption of our politicians and our police industry and our prison industry--who are indeed the primary beneficiaries of the Drug War. But the real reason is obvious when one looks at the incredible ignorance displayed by almost everyone who has answered this question.on this forum. Ultimately, it is ordinary Americans who are supporting the Drug War. Despite the overwhelming evidence that the Drug War is destroying America, these delusional people continue to believe that if we just INCREASE the Drug War, that then we will "win" it and the tens of millions of Americans who like to take drugs will then for some reason stop liking drugs and won't take them anymore. (Not surprisingly, these are also the people who believe that when they die they are going to "heaven," that Ouija boards are controlled by "Satan," that America is a "godly" nation, that black people have "natural rhythm," and that men should have "dominion" over women.) When one considers the vast numbers of these ignorant people, I predict that the War On Drugs will not be brought to an end until the drug cartels actually take over the governments of all American cities and control every aspect of American life with their own private armies, and publicly execute anyone who dares speak out against them at all. Then MAYBE the unbelievable ignoramuses who are now keeping the Drug War going will finally realize that restoring everyone's natural right to enjoy drugs is simply much better in every way than destroying the world for the sake of some cock-eyed, religious version of "morality." (That's funny. The hysterical Yahoo Obscenity-Checker would not permit me to correctly spell the ordinary and non-offensive term "c**ckeyed." Sort of like the people here who are having conniption fits over the imaginary evils of recreational drugs.)

If a stranger approaches you in a restaurant and starts yelling at you, that person is a nutcase or a drunk. Tell the manager and have him thrown out.
