sit by her someday or start talking to her before class or after... and just start talking. i would chit chat the first time & feel her out as far as personality & your connections go. then, if that goes well, just ask her out. you don't need to even ask about the whole boyfriend thing-- just ask what you really want to know...

Are you kiddin? That is the last question you want to ask her. Begin the conversation with just a simple "Hello, my name is John Doe. How did you enjoy today's lesson?" The key to this is that you have to pick a good day to ask her this. Don't do it on a day where the lecture is quite boring and not appealing at all. Also hold off on the bf question. The more you get to know her and the closer you get to be to her, the higher your chances are that you'll find out on your own.

No it is not ok whether she has a BF. That is too upfront. Try asking her about something relevent about the class or school and start from there. Maybe get in a study group with her or something. PERSONAL QUESTIONS RIGHT AWAY ARE NOT GOOD MANNERS AND WILL MAKE YOU SEEM LIKE A WEIRDO

Talk to her about school subject or something you and her in common.

Ask she has bf or not after few conversation, but not in the first conversation, a bit unpolite to ask personal matter. Tell her you like her when you are comfortable.

Good luck :O
