It depends on the state you live in but most District Attorneys have a Child Support Division or unit. There may be jurisdiction issues if you live in one state and your ex another but at some point they will come down on him big time including a tax lien on his refunds and garnishment of his wages. His only way to hide is to hide all of his assets and earnings. But the secret is you doing something to get this all started

If your ex files his tax return and is owed a refund, the Federal Offset Program will capture his refund and collect any unpaid child support.
The federal government also has another program called the New Hire Directory. Every employer in the United States is required to report each employee to a state's new hire registry. It has become a powerful tool in locating parents that are not paying their obligated support. Once a non-paying parent is located, the Office of Child Support Enforcement can issue a withholding order.

The only time they can get away with this is if they don't file a return, have no refund, their employer doesn't submit a new hire report or they change jobs too frequently.

The government is slow and while it might take some time, it will eventually bite your ex in the rear!

If you know your ex's whereabouts (job wise) and financial information, you can probably go to the courthouse and file a petition to get your ex to pay up or get some jail time.

Good luck!

i'm going to enhance Max's remark. because of the fact which you interestingly did no longer sign a joint return for 2010, you could document your very own return married submitting one by one for 2010. in case you could tutor you separated in 2010 and had the youngsters extra nights than he did, you could declare the youngsters besides. this might make him pay lower back taxes, effects and activity to the IRS. it gets you no longer something. you ought to use the opportunity of doing this to make him sign an contract to grant you the a number of money. If he filed a joint return on line with your permission, he did no longer something incredibly unlawful, and if this is the way you operated until now the chop up, he might have (sort of) assumed it replaced into nonetheless ok. this might needless to say mean that a number of regardless of refund money he does have interior the long term will circulate to the IRS in effects and activity and to no longer you in infant help. i think you have long gone by the criminal steps to have the state get the youngster help for you.
