reading all these answers reminds me of other things they do too,.... my little one jumps in empty laundry baskets, gets into the fridge when i open the door-actually on the shelves, they meow at me when i'm getting ready to go to work in the morning in the bath room. they watch me shower and i'm sure there's more.....

Great question...you could have been talking about my cat with #2 & #3, used to have a cat that did #1.
#1..She would scratch at the bathroom door to be let in and sit on my lap on the toilet...this is the first time I've heard someone else describe the same thing.
#2.. Current cat comes over while I'm cleaning out litter tray, doesnt try to get in til I'm done, then uses it straight away..as if to say 'and make sure you keep it clean!"
#3...He comes running from where ever he is to "help" me change the bed, getting tangled in the sheets, the only way I can get him to get off the bed is to start brushing him.(he hates that)
His current obsession is plastic carrier bags from shops...as soon as we put one down anywhere he has to climb straight in and often falls asleep in there!
He also shows his displeasure with things by blowing air down his nostrils - he's so funny.

At one point in time I had 4 cats you would have never know if you visited my house a couple times. But, if you were a frequent visitor you would know. All of them were whores for attention. And yes they totally followed me around every where, they jumped in the bed when I made it, the jumped into the dryer as I loaded it ( not all at the same time but one always would.) they played in empty containers, snooped around in everything I was doing. It made me crazy, they never jumped in my lap when I was in the bathroom because I closed the door but they would put there paws under it like the were trying to catch something and on occasion they would meow until I came out.

1) My cats follow me to the bathroom but they just sit and watch me or want me to pet them. They don't jump on my lap. Thankfully, one weighs 21 lbs. lol
2) Cats usually will watch you change the litterbox if they are aware. They are most likely waiting for the clean box. Cats are very finicky and love a clean box, that's why they dirty it up as soon as you're done. Go figure!
3) They are playing, mine don't do that because they aren't allowed in my room. I'm allergic but have them anyway. lol
how else do ur cats get in ur way? (i say get in the way, but it's sooooo cute) My cats like to sit under my feet all the time. Especially when I go up and down the stairs. My male cat likes to weave in and out of my legs, drives me nuts because I just know he's going to make me fall one day. But at the same time, it's so cute I just laugh.

I have 10 cats and none of them go in the bathroom with me, but my Jack Russell terrier will jump up on my lap when I am on the toilet.
My cats sit and wait for me to clean their litter box. As soon as I am done they jump in, then of course they throw litter all over my just swept floor.
My dogs and cats get on my bed when I change the sheets. Nothing like 10 cats and 2 dogs to fight off of the bed..
I will trip over my cats at least once a day, then they look at me like hey mom watch where your going are you blind of something.
I love my fur kids.

Ha, Ha! number 1 is cute. It's hard to say why they jump in your lap when you are in such a vulnerable position. It could be your scent. It could be just their way of getting attention, do you pet them at that moment more so than other times?
number 2.....I have 14 cats and 7 litter boxes (rule of thumb 2 cats per box) and all of my cats go to the box as soon as its cleaned (2 times a day). Ask yourself this question, do you like going into a bathroom stall with poopies in the toilet? Enuff said.
number 3.... most cats will do this to, they just like the smell and feel of new linens just like we humans.
My 14 cats constantly get in my way and I let them. I wouldn't have it any other way. Good luck.

I know what ur going threw.. My cat does the same thing he is not a lap person the only way to get him on ur lap if ur lucky when he is sleeping grap him and lay him on ur lap with sumthing they like to lay on like a pillow... or blanket.. my cat also likes to stand by the stove when i cook sumthing.. he watches me do dishes.. take showers... he is really big on when i clean his litter box its cute when they jump in there but its kinda hard.. and when i go to put more food in his bowl he will stick his face right up in there.. so its kinda hard to pour the food... when i open the fridge.. do laundry... he likes to lay in the laundry basket.... and when i take the clothes out he must like the warmth from them bc he just sits there like awwww... lol

Your first 3 answers my cat does.
1. When I sweep the litter on the floor near her litterbox, she follows the broom and tries to help.
2. After she is finished with her meal, she wants to help me eat mine.
3. I go into the closet for something to wear, she strolls right in and finds a spot.
4. Mine could care less about the water bowl, she tips it at night. She settles for the bathroom sink full of water. (the day she jumped up on the sink, she went into the water). Now that was funny!
5. When I use the lint roll to pick up the gobs of hair on my bed & futon, before I strip them, she wants me to use it on her, and less hair comes off of her.

1) runs along where he thinks I'm going and then cuts me off making me accidentally kick him.
2) follows me to the bathroom (runs if he has to) and has to watch me flush the toilet. He is fascinated with toilet flushing.
3) instead of jumping into my lap he uses his claws to climb my jeans clawing me in the process.
4) when I'm done changing the litter box, if I leave the litter in a pile he has to adjust it and smooth it out.
