copestir: Thank you for being a JERK. I am retired military and do know about VA. What about YOU? What have YOU done for your country? And for your information, the declining fortune of the VA system is nothing new. It dates back to the middle of the 1970's....know your fact before you lash out spasmadically!

This was meant to be a way to reach out to the liberal senator from Massachusetts (John not Ted, although there is not much difference) and to express your feelings.

To those who answered thoughtfully and without rancor, Thank you. I appreciate your level responses.

To those who lashed out with hate and malice, it is you who are scared and on the run from reality, I am not sorry that I rankled you. You have much hate and should consider therapy.

Even if he actually meant literally what you think he did, it was hardly vicious.

But having said that, this liberal Democratic voter (that's me) is pissed beyond the heavens at Kerry. He's just blown the Senate races next week, and the House victory for the Dems will likely be narrower.

Why do I say this if I don't think he said what you said? Because it was a stupid frikkin' comment on his part, precisely because it sounded like what you think it sounded like. Even as a "joking" reference to Bush, it's so obtuse as to make no sense - on a comedy stage, he would have been yanked off with the proverbial long-handled cane.

Kerry needs to disavow any further political ambitions, for the sake of his party for sure. This should include too retiring from the Senate when his term expires in '08. I didn't vote for him in the primary - Massachusetts roots notwithstanding - and I'm just fed up with him now. He's in everyone's GD way.

Yes, I do. As a mother of a 4.0 college graduate who quit a great job to serve his country, I am beyond offended by his statement.
My son did not become an Army Ranger & Officer because he did not study. He graduated with honors from every school he has ever attended but he loves freedom & his family more than the almighty dollar. He took a $40,000 a year pay cut to join military & his best friend & Army officer is a Harvard graduate attorney.

Kerry's quote was given at Pasedena City College - a very liberal college- to students.
"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework & you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."
Speaking to students you say you use education, study hard & you do well or you get stuck in Iraq. Anyone in Iraq other than soldiers. Kerry plainly insulted the troops & no twisting it will change what he said.

Thank you for the site..however, believe me it will not mean one thing to Kerry, for all of his life, and I have followed this man since is dis honorable testimony before the Congress in 71, you can say what you want, but this man hates America because it is not made in his image and likeness.

And...I don't want to hear about "oh he served. " He did as a privileged child of the rich, with his body guards and all." But lets remember this too, not all men who serve their country are always loyal to it. There have been those that have been called traitors. And the line to which Kerry crossed a long time ago, just might be a bit thin.

The comments you made were uncalled for, you are a sham of a man, Your comment made a mockery of the people who served with distinction in the war! For me you desecrated the memory of my father who died there so many years ago and that is detestable "i will never forgive or forget your horrible comments made to defame the living and the dead you are worse than a traitor you are a sub-par human!

Good for John Kerry for standing up for his own beliefs and taking a stand against George Bush and the right wing corruption! John Kerry in no way attacked America or American Armed Forces. He spoke the truth. The old adage is true then... Speak the truth and annoy a Republican!

Should Kerry apologise to Bush for insinuating it was Bushes lack of studying in school that led Bush to getting us stuck in Iraq? Perhaps but the Republicans are knowingly trying to twist this into something about the military when it clearly has nothing to do with the military.

O.K. all you DDD's (dumb, denying democrats) Nowhere in his speech did Kerry mention Bush. He started off by saying he was talking about education. Then he went on to slam the military. I guess if you were psychic you could make some connection to Bush but other than that, the words speak for themself. Kerry insulted evey sailor who ever went to Annapolis, every solider who went to West Point and every airman who went to Colorado Springs. I guess Kerry was even making fun of himeself since he was too stupid (I guess) to avoid military service in the '60s. What a total absolute idiot! I'm just sooooo glad he didn't make it to the White House in '04. Hell, a bunch of terrorists would be camping out on the front lawn of the WH with Kerry, Kennedy, Pelosi and the other left wing nuts singing Kumbya (sp?). Kerry needs to get on a bus with all his left wing friends and let Ted Kennedy take them on a short ride off a tall bridge (whoops, he tried that once already)

I think this is something I missed. Could this be another one of those "twisting attacks" where Sen. Kerry said something, the Rep. party takes it out of context, twists it around, and adds things to it to make it mean something WAY different then what was ACTUALLY said? Republicans are really good at that. We have to remember though..... if they attack that hard, that just means THEY ARE SCARED. That must be the person they feel most threatened by.
