I just got over a cold, but I have this hacking cough. I cough for like 10 times in a row. My voice wears out too. How long with this last?

I get that with my colds too!! Sometimes my cough lasts for like a month after my cold goes away. I guess it just depends on how sick you were, you could have had bronchitis, that cough lasts forever. It will go away eventually, hang in there.

Well, when i have that, it usually last a few days, maybe even a week or so.
You can take any medication or cough syrup or something to feel better if you want, but too much isn't very healthy.
Try drinking more fluids like water or warm liquids. It may help.

Yeah sometimes coughs last longer. Check with your doc make sure you don't have acute bronchitis....and try a cough syrup called Delsym. I believe thats the correct spelling, or close. It works better than other meds for coughs that I've used and its highly recommended.

I had an awful one once that lasted several weeks, but usually they don't last nearly that long. I was going to computer school at the time and I arranged to sit alone in a room with a machine. It was a computer, sort of. I could cough to my heart's content.

when you have a cold, your body is weakened and becomes vunerable to bacteria and viruses. You could have a minor cough due to irritants in your lungs, you could have a bacterial infection (treatable by a three day course of antibiotics) or a virus (ride it out) if you are a smoker, cut down (or quit!) for a while. Rest your throat and drink plenty of fluids. If your cough persists after 3 days, or gets worse see a doctor or go to a clinic.

you don't need antibiotics! this world is so over medicated! anyway, the cough can last for up to two weeks. i just got over a cold and i would wake up choking and coughing in the middle of the night. it can happen from postnasal drip which can remain after you are feeling better.

depends with or without antibiotics, or other drugs like paracetomol and rest etc etc and diet.. some last a couple of days others last a couple of weeks see the doctor
