Disregard the other idiots here.

You can have it expunged both the arrest and the conviction after 10 years. This works in both NC and NY(check with your attorney as all states vary)

Also, make sure you get a relief from civil disabilities from the judge presiding over your case. This can help you retain or gain employement, as well as other things.
