I was eating Cheetos and feeding them to my stray cat friend in the backyard one day. I was feeding him every day so I decided to name him. He's orange and loves Cheetos so I decided that's his name. Cheeto.
I eventually took him into my home and he has become king of the castle ever since. lol

We have two cats, one male one female. The male is a rather large one, my wife and I are Star Wars fans so we call him Jabba the Cat after the Star Wars character Jabba the Hutt, due to his size. The females name is Tippy, she is all black except for the very tip of her tail that is white.

Well my own cats name is Jazzy. She is a long haired Tabby and the name just seemed to fit. The best name ever was for my dad's cat. Sad story but my dad runs a store and at the end of his drive one day was a card board box all taped up. One of the guys that frequents the store brought it in, dad opened it and there was a little black and white kitten inside. He brought it home and they were trying to come up with a name, I said I have the perfect name... Box Cat Willie, Willie for short.. Everyone thought that suited him...

I have a friend who's cat is named Cheeto. He's an orange attack cat!

Mine are Onyx- solid black kitty & Sprinx- that was a split between sphinx & sprinkle since she's the kind of calico thats speckeled with spots instead of big blobs of color. The boys tend to call her sphincter though.

Lint, as in dryer lint. When he was a kitten, my husband was drying a load of white clothes. He walked away for a minute and when he came back to shut the door and turn the dryer on, he had no idea our then unnamed white kitten had jumped in. We couldn't figure out what the thumping sound was, until we heard the cat meowing. It was very scary, he had a busted lip, and an accident all over the white clothes, but he came out of it o.k. Well except for a newly acquired fear of dryers, and a fascination with heater vents.

Epping...he was dumped on a train as a tiny kitten (about 2 weeks old), and was discovered as the train was arriving in a town called Epping.

A friend of mine was taking some rubbish to the tip a few years ago and found a kitten asleep on an armchair that someone had thrown away...she now has a cat called 'Armchair'.

I don't have a cat right now, but when I was young I had a cat named PUMPKIN. I got him on Thanksgiving and figured Pumpkin was better than "Turkey". =) He was the best cat ever.

My sister had a cat named BEANS, because he was the color of bean dip, and my brother had a yellow cat named SNOWBALL.

We once had a cat named ARROW. My Dad named him because he would always take off really fast if he saw a bird or mouse or something like that.

Other names I can think of from growing up...

SHADOW
FLUFFY
ELLIOTT
PRECIOUS
CREAMER
SAM

Our 6 month old's name is Gizmo, because I let my girlfriend name him. She's never seen Gremlins. Go figure.

Our 3 year old is named December, because she was originally a Christmas present. The original owner gave her to my girlfriend's sister, and then we took her after she moved in with her fiance (now husband) that is allergic. We're lucky, because I can't believe two homes past up on such a sweet kitty.

My long hair orange cat is called Ripples: as he created a Ripple like affect in my home when I brought him home.

My short hair black cat is called Munch: I had her since she was 2 days old and she has always been on the small side,I started with Munchkin, but it just didn't stick, she answers to Munch.

When my daughter was in the hospital, she had a stuffed cat named clyde that went everywhere with her, Xray, surgery, etc. She had always wanted a kitten, and my husband brought one home, and sent pictures to her. She named the kitten Lola. The kitten would never respond to that name. My daughter passed away before she ever got to see her cat. As it turned out the kitten was a boy, so I said we'll change it's name to Clyde, after her stuffed animal. I called "Here Clyde" and the kitten immediately responded and came to me. So he is named Clyde.

Our 1st cat, Tabitha, came with the name (she was my aunt's cat to begin with, but her other cat, Sabrina, didn't get along with Tabby). Tabby's nickname is Beater because she grabs chair legs (or her daughter's head) and punishes them by kicking with her feet.

Phoebe (Tabby's daughter) was named by looking through a baby name book. It just seemed to fit her. Her nickname is Beefy Buffet (as in Phoebe Buffay on Friends) because she's a BIG kitty (17 lb'er) and likes to eat.
