Show your new pup lots of love, attention and give this some time. Your pup will come around after he gets used to the new situation.

Is he 8 mo old or 8 weeks old? At 8 months he should be more independent. Hold him and love him awhile and then put him on the floor. Let him run around. He will walk when he is down where he can. We have chihuahuas and when they are 8 weeks old, they run around and get into everything. Give him some toys to play with. He does need to eat. Feed him whatever he was eating before you got him. Good luck with the little one.

If your pet won't eat you will have to force feed it,as it isn't good for a pet not to eat beyond 24 hours.First has the pet been wormed lately,if not then would suggest this be done first. You may have to force feed the pet with a syringe,Try boiling some chicken, cut up in small pieces, put in a blender with a small amount of the chicken broth and puree it,most dogs that won't eat anything else will eat this.If it isn't consuming water,or having any signs of diarrhea, take away all food and water, and give it the non-flavored baby pediolyte if if you have to force this down, but again this sounds like the pet may need worming,if so,you will see a difference after worming. If you don't know when the last time it was wormed, call the person you got the pet from,as they should be able to tell you.If you have any futher problems, let us know and will try to answer your questions,or you can e-mail me and will try and help you.

Coddling it will only feed into the anxiety. So contrary to what other people will say, spoiling it rotten is the last thing you should do. Sounds like it has a few self-esteem issues, which will happen when a dog's environment changes. I wouldn't allow it to sit in your lap constantly, since that seems to feed into its anxiety as well. Just be calm and firm with it, *never* harsh. Slow, gentle movements. Try to get it to play with you--find a toy that it likes. Nervous dogs also enjoy having their chins lifted and scratched. This is a naturally confident position/movement, and if you do this, it will help your dog to feel more comfortable. Lifting the tail and scratching the base of it will do the same thing.

Well, poodles are very very persnickety....it may take awhile....
Just keep loving it, give it lots of attention and reassurance. It will eat when it gets hungry...you might not see it happen, but you will notice the food gone. Poodles loved to be in your lap! And if it is a girl, it is very choosy. If you have a vet yet, ask for help. Good luck.

I'm afraid it will just take time for your little one..One thing that will help, is to get a warm washcloth, and while he is on your lap, wash his face and especially over his eyes..Just as his mom would lick his face..He will act like he hates it, as kids don't want their face wahsed..but, it is a maternal thing, and it really will comfort him.
I used to raise toy poodles, and they are very sensitive, but will really bond with a little patience...

Give it a few days. My dog didn't eat for nearly four days when she first came home.
