Sometimes I want to, sometimes I don't. I'm blessed with a thin body and plenty of assets, but sometimes I just want to be stick thin...that's all they show on TV, magazines, etc. And then they make it out like it's sooo pretty, it confuses me.

I think the media and society do play more of a role than we think. We may not be aware of the fact that we are subconsciously altering our personas and physical appearance to meet societies standards or to fit it. Unfortunately, we live in a materialistic society, where we are constantly pressured to look our best and fit into the conventions of society. In regards to body image however, I think it really does depend on the individual. We are all self-conscious about our physical appearances in one way or another (though im sure many would lie & argue otherwise). I think it affects everyone. Contrary to popular belief, not all girls want to be slim and not all girls want to look like supermodels or actresses. However, they all do have idealized body images from what they see everyday on the street or at school, which does influence them. Its sort of a repetitive cycle. We are all somehow compelled to change ourselves physically due to the media, which is a product & reflection of society.

Every girl goes through this. The only thing you must not do is believe you must be perfect. Most of the pictures you see are changed digitally to make them seem hotter. Did you know that women models on billboards are changed? The model's pictures are modified giving the woman a slightly longer neck and larger eyes. You can wish you were like them but don't act on those wishes and you will be fine.

It has nothing to do with media, but society does influence a bit; however, I prefer being small. Since I'm at work now, hubby can't force me to eat with him and I won't feel and look dumpy too much longer, thankfully. Slimmer people move better and feel better physically. They cost employers less money too. I have allergies and will cost enough as it is....

I have in the past. However, over the past few years the media has made an attempt to cast a more diverse representation of human beings, especially women...

I know for a fact that it effects me. I wish I was a size 5. I'm an average sized girl- not fat but not skinny either. I look in magazines and on TV and see all these skinny women and wish that I could be skinny and beautiful too (very rarely do you see average/thick women). But at the same time, I love my curves...

Not at all and have never been. I like my weight to be in a certain realm and if it goes overboard i diet and fix it. Im comfortable with myself and my friends have no choice, lol. Im me and thats that! Theres alot of images that appear on TV but thats not real life. They should get real!

I'm pretty thin, but would only want to be a bit thinner because I want to look like an anime girl. If that's considered media.

Changing your bodies because of the media or others is not smart. We are all different and unique and we do not need to change our bodies to impress anyone.

It's not really the media.
I just would rather look a different way at times simply because I do. If society's supermodels were all obese (and at a time, they were..), I really wouldn't care.
