Praise that woman whose disobedience gave mankind intelligence and saved us from being God's pets as we would have been just like animals, if without intelligence.

God created man to be a free moral agent. To act, upon his own free will, to create in limited ways, to order the world in which he was called to have dominion over, Yet when man sinned, he actually gave up some of his will, for now he is a sinner and cannot keep from sinning. All his ability to stop, is rendered powerless, so by taking from the tree of good and evil, he gave away his free will, to sin and this continuously - Only in Christ is his freedom restored. This to pursue righteousness holiness love and all the things God had created him in the garden to pursue in the first place from a free and holy ability - now only recieved through Christ.

man was created with a free will. God put the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the garden to give us a choice. if it wasnt there, we would all serve God by default because there is no other choice. get it?

It was never God's intention that Adam and Eve remain in the Garden of Eden forever. Else He would not have allowed satan to even be in the Garden. God knows that it is in the human nature, Which any human on the earth would in fact have being in the flesh.
Confine a person to a room for all his life, and tell him he is not allowed to push the red button because it will kill him, On top of this allow another person to be in this room constantly coaxing you to push the red button that nothing is going to happen. It is inevitable he will push the button just to see what happens.
Adam and Eve was put in the Garden, and was told they could eat from any tree they wanted, except for ONE TREE in the middle of the Garden, then God allows satan to be in the Garden, tempting them to eat of the Tree. It was bound to happen because of their human nature that they had, beings that they were in the flesh.
God forknew that Adam and Eve would not live in the Garden forever.
And in examining your question, i would like to point out to you, that Adam and Eve did not recieve free will when they ate of the forbidden fruit, they had free will before they ever touched the fruit, for they freely chose to disobey God and eat of the fruit, and in doing this, exhibited free will.

The free will of man was received directly from God Almighty. Man received the knowledge of good and evil from the tree.

Everyone did have free will. God just put the other tree up as a test to see if man and woman was truly loyal to him.

Without the education of the Messengers of the One Ture God, we don't know that we have free will and we don't know how to use it with responsibility. We wrongly assume that to instinctively do everything like the lower living beings as free will.
We need learning to thankfully know that free will is the divine gift to distinguish man from the animal.

The Free will of man was around before man was. Hence a fall of a third of heaven. You do not have to go to Heaven. It is most certainly a choice. I would however like to see you there and chat about silly things we did on our computers on Halloween.

God is your God also. there is but one will,Gods will. human free will is an Illusion. "God dwells within you as you". you know in your heart this is true. God lets you play whatever games you wish to play,even hide & seek. Eating of the tree of knowlege is where humanity took their focus from the oneness of God in all things (The single eye) and began to see duality in all things. after Losing unity awareness, Mankind drifted further & further into ignorance. If you want the rest of the story,study the levels of awareness & how to trandscend each of them. there are four levels of awareness,Ignorance,Law,Grace & unity with God.

If they didn't have free will, they could not have made the choice to eat of the tree.
God gave us that free will to chose the good, not the bad.
They messed up and was deceived by Lucifer.
Sin was then passed on to us.
Now through the blood of Christ we have remission for our sins
