yes, I defenatly think that drinking consistantly or doing drugs will ruin my quality of life. I have a baby to care for, I cannot show her that drinking irrisponsibly is ok because alcoholism runs in my family. I also need to be sober and in control of myself so nothing bad happens to me as a result of my drunkeness, I want to remember my child growing up, not being drunk through-out it and not having to sleep though days with a hangover. How does this tie into being spiritual now? Because instead of relying on alcohol to medicate your problems you rely on a higher power to solve them, you start to have faith and do things you could not do before, you get to actually experience life instead of hiding from it and day by day you get a little stronger and the flowers actually have an oder and things can be sweeter. Its a great thing if you can do it.

Some drugs can seem to help achieve a spiritual state. Native American Indians and others have used many drugs to alter perceived reality. Many people want to alter reality and affect conscousness. The world is in a terrible mess. Radical Islamists want to kill all non-believers or to convert them to Islam. They destroyed the Twin Towers to make their point. Many rogue countries including Iran and North Korea want the nuclear bomb and will actually use it to coerce other countries to capitulate millions or billions in foreign aid. To be totally free of drugs and alcohol is to be in denial of the problems of the world. How else can we cope?
