Even though I have never been out of the U.S. and have no plans to go, should I get one?

Since its good for 10 years and you never know what your travel plans may be in the future. I would say yes, but there's no rush to get it before January. Just remember that if you take a cruise, you will need a passport. If you travel to Canada or Mexico, to get back into US, you will need a passport.

I just think better to get it now, than try doing it last minute and then you don't have it when you need it.

You should get a passport if you do any travelling at all, Although you don't need a passport for a couple more years for land or sea crossing from Canada to the US. But if you fly and get re-routed or have a stop over in the US you will need 1

I don't think you need to rush to get the passport since you have no plans to travel, but we think everyone should travel, so go ahead and get your passport. Maybe once you have a passport in hand, you'll start dreaming about going somewhere. What fun! We're always trying to convince people to go. Need inspiration?
