The guy that hit me lied and said he has insurance and he really doesn't. So State Farm sent him a letter about other coverage. He has two weeks to respond. In the mean time I am stuck with this messed up car that gets rained into and my doors don't close properly on the passengers side. Will I have to pay my deductible? If so will I be reimbursed? Is it a good idea to go with the body shop recommended by the insurance company?

You can have repairs done on your vehicle now but you will have to pay the deductible. Your insurance company will attempt to recover the entire cost of repairs from the other party and if successful they will return your ded. amount to you. State Farm has direct repair shops in their program but you are not obliged in any way to use them. No need to get multiple estimates as they also have staff estimators and will write one for you if you desire. There are some advantages in using their direct repair shops such as an extended warranty of sorts on the repairs and intervention if the shop somehow manages to screw up your vehicle and refuses to correct it. Hey, it happens...
State Farm is a giant company and usually will use all resources in an attempt to recover from the other party or insurance company. Sometimes the other guy is just a deadbeat with no assets and ins. companies will 'write off' the claim vs trying to sue, etc.

Yes, to begin with you will have to pay your deductible and get your car fixed. State Farm will then go after the person who hit you to get reimbursed, and will also attempt to get back your money also. You can to to any shop you want, but the one recommended by insurance will accept what they pay, and may give you a better warranty on the work. Investigate your options.

I also have State Farm, when I filed a uninsured motorist claim (other driver did not stop), I did have to pay my deductible and did not get reimbursed. I would recommend taking your car to multiple body shops to get quotes, in the end you get to pick who fixes your car.

An uninsured motorist claim is handled just like any other claim most of the time. Do what your insurance company says and they will handle the jerk without insurance.

Cowboy Bill is right, but I will also add that you have a duty to mitigate your damages (keep them from becoming worse) as this goes on, so you better take steps to protect the car from the rain damage.
