U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean were each sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for wounding a drug smuggler. (Tell the President and Congress that Ramos and Compean should be pardoned.) The incident occurred last year when the two agents pursued the smuggler, Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila, who was trying to make it back across the border from the El Paso sector into Mexico. During the pursuit, Ramos, after finding a bloodied Compean lying on the ground from a struggle with Aldrete-Davila, shot at the smuggler, believing him to be armed.

Well, Border Patrol agents in prison not surprised there probably like couple hundred right now taking bribes by American and Mexican people. If the Drug smuggler was using deadly force against the Border Patrol or a known thug in Mexico and Untied States they should be allowed to use lethal force. Also, If the incident of overwhelming force was used they should be held accountable also. Yet, the facts of the case need to be presented to actually make a judgment if the use of force was for self defense or poor judgment on the Border Patrols part. Personally, the military should be doing that job not the Border Patrol. The border patrol should check, inspect, and let people thru, or stop people from Entering the Untied States.
The military has the training to take on Drug Smuggling thugs better than Border Patrol.

yes, and what was even more astounding was that they gave the drug smuggler immunity to testify against them. how ridiculous is that. Here's another slap in the face, the illegal drug smuggler is now being allowed to sue the government for 5 million dollars for "pain and suffering". for gods sakes he was shot in the butt. our country needs to get it's head out of it's @ss and band together and quit worrying about what everyone else thinks.

If the unlawful alien replaced into harmless i might say no, yet being that he replaced right into a drug smuggler then you definately ought to evaluate the circumstances that bring about the shooting.
