That is not true (have to be perfect). Moses was far from perfect, in fact, he was a murderer, and tried to get out of God's little errand in Egypt!

God chooses various ways to speak to people. Most generally, God speaks through a religious tradition -- their teachings, their holy books, their experiences, their prayers. If you want to know the will of God, then you've got a ton of revelations if you just dig thru those teachings.

If you ever feel like God is telling you something directly -- and you might have that feeling someday -- then have that revelation confirmed by your community of faith. One of the favorite tricks of evil is to make one believe that it's God on the phone (kinda like a really bad prank phone call).

No way for us to "get God to talk to us".We can NOT control God.

We talk to God in "prayer" ... which is a fancy way of just saying we can TALK with God. Yes, sometimes it would be nice to HEAR a reply.

In the OT times, like in the Garden of Eden, or Abraham at Mamre, or Moses on the Mount, etc. God did speak audibly. Remember, though, that then were was not nearly as much of the Bible in writing.

Now God usually speaks to us through His Written Word. Though He also does speak to our spirit/soul .... His Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.

Maybe He does, occasionally, speak to people by an angel, or possibly with His own still soft voice.

Sometimes maybe we are so busy we don't listen for Him to answer.

But when He has given us 1,189 chapters .... we should read His word and let Him speak to us through it.

It's not impossible. God has spoken to many that way (Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Jonah, Elijah) and even after Christ resurrection (Saul-Paul, Peter, John). However, I think He's probably done with that...the Bible has been written.

Today, we have the Word of God. It's God's direct revelation to you and every other person on the planet. And you don't have to be perfect. In fact, God knows you are not. But He offers His righteousness through faith in Christ!

And once you believe, He gives you His Holy Spirit. He will lead you and guide you. So you have His Word and His Spirit. He does want to talk to you (you reading His Word); and He wants you to talk to Him (through prayer).

In Old Testament times God spoke to Mosses and he also inspired the other prophets. He speaks today as well, but in an indirect way. God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and the church to reveal Himself, His purposes, and His ways.
If you want to know what God's will is, read the Bible, pray about it, talk to a pastor or and elder and watch for the circumstances to fall into place.

James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

This is a good start. He's been waiting to talk to you for a long time.

His word speaks to you each time you read it.
Walk with him, be his friend and love him,
Love is the way to get to God's heart
God created us to love him and communicate with him
You speak to him all the time,
Lord, be with me today in everything I say and do
Guide my footsteps
If you start talking to him you will soon hear a still small voice on the inside speaking back
Sometimes he will speak to you when you didn't speak to him
Remember , it was not in the wind or the rain, but in a still small
voice
The prophet Elijah

No, you do not have to be perfect. Moses was a murderer - James did not truly believe that Jesus was the Messiah - Peter denied Jesus......In the Bible it shows undying faith in God and His promises. It is not possible for anyone of us to be perfect but, you have to try to get to that mark of being perfect in God's eyes - I state TRY to get to that mark - The word is TRY.

Now, how you hear God - is to read the Bible and God will start to speak to you through His word. It is not enough just to read the word and say you read it - but, study it - ask questions. Search out God and you will find Him. Trust in Him - Follow Him - Ask God to show you what He wants to reveal to you and He will. God promises to talk to you because He wants to. So pick it up and start reading the word - ask a pastor where to start and follow God.

People will laugh, but God has talked to me. I was seriously searching for Him. I needed Him more than I needed air or food.he met me where I needed Him. I was not and am still not perfect. I have been a sinner all my life. God is looking for obedience. Be obedient-you will find God.

We are not a perfect people, and God doesn't expect us to be perfect. That doesn't mean you are free to go out and do wrong. If you have invited God into your heart, and when you Pray(talk) to him, he hears you, now you have to listen in order to hear him, when we are quite really quite God talks and directs us, we just have to be open to direction and correction. Allot of times we can't hear because we have to much going on. So when you are slowed down, you can hear God talking to you in your heart, you have to be open to receive what he's telling you, and not to busy to hear.
