I would like to know all the details of becoming an officer of the law. What physical requirements are set, and if becoming an officer is as difficult as it is to become a marine? What do stations expect when looking for a man or woman rookie?

Each state will have different things. Here are a few.

1) A written test testing basic general knowledge.
2) A Physical test of some sort.
3) A group oral interview with their Police & Fire Board.
4) A background check & background interview (1 on 1)
5) A polygraph
6) A complete physical, including an AIDS test.
7) A psych exam
8) Graduation from a police academy.

That is the procedure you go thru when getting hired.

I was never a marine, so I can't answer to that, but I can say I was surprised at how involved and hard it was to become a police officer. I got lucky and got hired by the second place I tested with, but I talked to people who had been testing for as long as two to three years. We have a guy in our department who tested for 9 years before finally getting hired.

If you do have experience as a marine, it will definately help your chances......good luck.

First there is no standared requirement, so that really ends your question.

Each department will have thier own. it is not near as hard as a marine or even army basic training

some departments have a physcial test, run a mile under certain times, drag a body weight like draging a person so far, and other things,

Some departments just send you to a doctor for a medical.

So you will need to contact the departments you are interested in and find out thier exact requirements.

If you want to get hired, apply at 20 to 30 departments or more, since often there are several hundred people applying for any one opening.

the lower paying the department normally the lower thier standards are.

Lets not forget the most important qualification. You must be able to eat a box of donuts in 5 minutes flat.
