Stop trying to work AGAINST your curls. Work with them. I struggled with my naturally curly hair for many years before I learned how to work with it. Straightening it takes too much time and it doesn't look as good as well-done curls.
I use Garnier Fructis Hard Curl gel on my damp hair. Depending on your hair's length, use plenty of gel to coat all of your hair. Mine is shoulder length and I use about 2 palms full of gel. Distribute the gel with a comb and then spray hair with hairspray. I use Dove Extra Hold Flexible.
Blow dry using a diffuser (it doesn't friz out the curls). Turn your head upside down to blowdry the top of your head. Scrunch your hair a little as you blow dry to make the curls springy. Once dry ( takes me about 10 minutes) spray with hairspray again to hold.
Although I use a lot of product, once my hair is dry it is not crunchy or stiff.
After you style your hair, try not to touch your curls as much as you can. Touching them separates the curls and creates frizz.
Work WITH your beautiful curls, not AGAINST them by straightening them.

you and I are just alike! Well, Nioxin is great for dry, curly hair! They have the Smoothing Reflective line for ethnic/latina/biracial hair, or people with dry curls that smooths out curls. They have the Silk Elixir that is my lifesaver!!! Also if you want silky, smooth straight hair, dont invest in a very expensive CHI iron, but get the Conair Wet-Dry Ceramic. It was only $26.00 and it flat-irons my hair bone-straight and I have very multicultural hair
Hope that helps out, cause I'm sooo loving my hair now! I also got a link to Nioxin so that you can choose your hair type and what products. If you have a Trade Secret store or a Regis salon, they sell the products!

try "Lottabody" hair lotion. They smooth the hair shaft for straightening. Use products labeled "light" for African American hair. They moisturize well and aren't heavy on the hair like other products. You can also try going to a Dominican salon and ask them what products to use for smooth sllek hair. Deep condition your hair with cholesterol. Visit your local beauty supply stoe. Sally's is a great beauty supply stor hee in the US, because they have hair products for all hair textures.
To combat dryness, try using a small amount of olive oil, hot oils and deep conditioners. I like Queen Helene Professional Formula Cholesterol Hair Conditioning Cream. It's very moisturizing.

as i told many people on this site before frizz ease really helps and if your hair is that dry maybe you need to rethink your haircare stategy, because if it is already dry you could actually dry your hair more by using hot tools on there i would rehydrate my hair and then start with the straightening...If you want to give your dry hair a boost biosilk silk therapy oil should give your hair the helping hand it needs...

i have the same problem. find a good shampoo and conditioner that is for your hair type. i like tigi products. after you wash your hair put a good leave in conditioner on your hair that is good for heat. i love the leave in conditioner called "frizz control". if you don't put something on it before you straighten it, you will fry your hair or it will frizz even worse. hope i helped.

You are going to need to use a good conditioner and then use an equally as good flat iron. Give us more info, ethnicity that kind of thing.
