LoL he said he went AWOL b/c he didnt want to go back to Iraq...ok, and then he said he became against this war when he saw an innocent Iraqi man die...umm its war it happens, I mean does he not get the concept of war? Now its not what ur supposed to do go kill innocent men, but he said it was during a gunfight and an innocent man got trapped so it wasnt like they were just raiding towns killing innocent ppl for no reason. What a pu**y. I guess that 1 innocent guy negated the 3000 innocent victims killed on 9/11. Plus this war is different than any other, were not at war with a country were at war with terrorists who are sprinkled throughout many countries, innocent ppl are going to die its inevitable, get over it. Rather be safe than sorry, and rather him than an American soldier. Agree? Or disagree??

I understand ur point ICE, and yes I have...but this guy JOINED the army he wasnt forced, and he knew he was going to war what the hell did he expect to see? Fields of flowers with Iraqi's/Shiites/Bin Laden/Americans/GWB dancing and holding hands singing "we are the world"??? No...you have expectations going in.....

That guy knew what he was signing for, unless he was/is one of those who only Join for getting the Education then becoming an Officer....*like so many these days*. Hell, my DH Joined KNOWING he would be sent Downrange....yet, he still signed on the dotted line and raised his hand to Swear In...
But you know what? I am GLAD this guy is gone....I feel safe knowing at least ONE more so-called Soldier is not out there having my DH's back in an important moment.
I personally feel that the Military needs to follow the Law of AWOL people....put before a Firing Squad.
Oh, and for the PTSD thing....there are WAY too many using that as an easy cop-out for their actions. They need to be an adult and take Ownership for their actions...

i sure hope you are going infantry and not some punka$$ westpoint cadet finally getting a butter bar. you are going to get your a$$ kicked coming in with an attitude like you got. you better keep your head in the game and be realistic about where you are and what you got yourself in.

however to answer your little question...this guy probably went through post traumatic stress syndrome, he was likely a spiritual person or hey, just a regular guy who didnt like the idea of having to kill ANYONE. whether he had it in his mind and was supposedly ok with having to kill someone when he joined the army it does not put ones heart and mind at ease when you actually are put in the position to kill or be killed. just imagine killing an innocent man who was the only one who was feeding his family and had kids who looked up to him and was actually hoping change could be positive for his country? who cares though huh? i guess you are right, lets just nuke the middle east.

You're a bit pious aren't you? It's a bit rich that you sit in the safety of your office or lounge room and put this guy down for serving his country. He had the balls to go there in the first place and serve his country and then turn himself in and face the music, yeah a real coward... Pull your head in.

Good luck Soldier.

I see your point but I think it is a lot different to say" it is inevitable, get over it" when you aren't the one who saw what happened. I'm sure he has seen many terrible things and that can be traumatic.
