Actually....I think the reason that atheists hate Christians so much is that America really is a Christian founded country. Now, Im not an Atheist, but it must be hard to have religion thrown in your face every day. Everything from the currency, to the Pledge of Alegience has the concept of God in it. America was also founded on mostly Christian principles...this might anger some people.

I dont think that things such as free trade rights are on their minds. Another thing is that...if someone says their Atheists, they generally get a LOT of crap about it. Many people cant except that some dont want to be involved in any religion. Some who do this, are Christians, and so they give other Christians a bad name.

An atheist country? An ATHEIST country? 80% of the U.S. population is Christian! Atheists, agnostics, and nonreligious people account for a whopping 15%. That's a hell of an atheist country.

And it's not just the numbers. This is a Christian country. What about the Intelligent Design movement? What about the gay marriage controversy, which only exists because of the Bible? What about people insisting that we have prayer in schools? What about "In God We Trust" on our currency and "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance? What about the fact that over half of this country doesn't even believe in evolution, which is accepted by the rest of the world? What about the fact that Christians are so powerful in politics that you literally can't be President unless you're religious? (Not according to the Constitution, obviously, but only a Christian man will ever be elected President... at least in the near future. An atheist President would be too "controversial." He'd never get elected.) How in the world you can call this an atheist country is beyond me...

USA is not a Christian country. USA is a freely religious country that harbors many Atheists, Buddhists, Christians, and followers of many religions. Invalid question. Christian, Would you rather live in Israel or Sweden? Israel, where you are compressed or Sweden where you are free? By the way, North Korea isn't Atheist. Cult of Personality.

I'm a Buddhist, and as such, do not concern myself much with notions of God.

With that said, I do not "hate" Christians. I have no problem with those who believe in a way of life grounded in love, forgiveness and selfless compassion. This goes for anyone, no matter what their faith.

Nor do I feel intimidated by Christians. There is room for all ways of thinking and all religions in the United States. This creates a very rich tapestry, unlike any in the world. This is the success of the United States. This harmony-among-diversity makes us strong.

What I do have a problem with is any group that seeks to force all who do not subscribe to their religion to comply with their rules. This represents disrespect for the beliefs of others and an inappropriate, illegal and futile exercise of power. One need not look far to see the failures of theocracy...witness the murderous Taliban or the oppressive mullahs in Iran.

The United States was never intended to be a theocracy, so I will fight to maintain the same separation of Church and State so wisely implemented by our Founding Fathers when they drew up the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

it's not intimidation, it's a situation. you think in this country we are living atheistically? our currency says "in God we trust", our pledge of allegiance says, "one nation, under God...", every president we've ever had, has made a God, religious and/or Christian reference in regards to himself. Especially W. For a country that's supposed to separate church and state, there's a lot of connection there. atheists don't hate Christians, they feel as though they don't need a God to get by and they don't believe in one, but if you do, that's your thing. Just don't be evil and kill people in the name of your God. Christians, and most religions, if not all, don't hold the same ideology. If you tell an atheist that i'm a Christian, they'll say, "oh, that's good for you" but if you tell a Christian I'm an atheist they'll say, "have you been shown the light and heard the message of Jesus?" not necessary.

Because the Christians in America are doing their best to:

1) Change this country's legislation and policies based on their religious beliefs

2) Get Intelligent Design taught in the classroom as a valid scientific alternative

3) Brainwash children to start a Holy War against the unbelievers

All of these things are very scary and detrimental to the spirit of America, which was founded upon religious freedom and the separation of Church and State.

Actually christians have the upper hand in the USA
America is second last in the WORLD at accepting scientific proof and evolution. (last is turkey)...i often wonder if this has something to do with America having the highest rate of high school drop outs in the Western World along with the lowest High School results when put on the curve with other Western countries?

If you're feeling hated, i would say its not because you're Christian, but rather because you're a pain in the a*se.

I'm an agnostic, and I certainly do not hate Christians. I have many Athiest friends who do not hate Christians either. This question is prejudiced in the sense that it labels all athiests as Christian haters.

As for the US being an athiest country...not true. 75% of Americans are Christian.

When was the last time you looked on the back of a $1 bill or recited the Pledge of Allegiance, or saw an atheist holding public office? It's the other way around my friend.
