ANA tests for the anti-nuclear antibody, which is present when the immune system is undergoing some kind of unnatural stressor to it. There are a number of things that a high ANA can signify: Rheumatoid Arthritis, Gout, Fifth's Disease, Fibromyalgia, M. Gravis, to name a few. If you had a high ANA don't freak out- your body needs to just be free of unnecessary stress right now. Sometimes injuries can also spike ANA levels. Your physician may wait a few weeks and repeat the test to see when and if levels come back to normal.
I had a high ANA a few years back and it was due to the swelling in my joints caused by....the good ole flu. So, don't stress, especially if you've had a bout with a bug lately :) Good luck sweetie!

I would go to a Rhumatoligist. I started feeling really tired a few years ago. I always had headaches, i couldn't fall asleep, my back hurt. After i started getting kidney infections very frequently, my doctor started doing blood work. When he found my ANA levels were very high, he sent me to my Rhumatoligist. They did more extensive blood work and found that I had Systemic lupus, Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue Syndrome.
Sometimes though, it could be nothing. I had a friend who had Mono when she was a teenage and her levels were high with Mono and they never came down, so it could be nothing. If you have no symptoms, then I probally wouldn't worry too much.
