Hello,

I couldn't find any answers to my question, so I though I'd ask here.

This has happened with several different Diet Pepsi cans from several different 12-packs in the last couple of weeks. I open a can of Diet Pepsi and let it sit. Anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute later it begins bubbling over like crazy and goes on for 15 seconds! I can't recall a can ever bubbling over well after it is opened. Any ideas or am I just wondering about nothing?

Follow up: Quite a number of the Diet Pepsis that I have had recently have tasted extremely flat. Any connection?

Thanks for any insight!

I have had that happen when the Pepsi is partially frozen (it was sitting in the back of the refrigerator).

Sounds like your Diet Pepsi is partially frozen - if the room temperature is warm it will make any drink do this.

As for the flat Diet Pepsi's - check the date on your twelve pack. Although many drinks are good for a couple of weeks after the expiration date, diet drinks break down very quickly due to the artificial sweetner. If it is close to the expiration date, it will taste flat very soon after it is opened.

You may have your Diet Pepsi too cold or nearly frozen. The change in temp, when you open the drink doesn't effect it till the warm air mixes with the cold co2.

I too had this happen when it was frozen or extremely cold then when air hits it it gets slushy & starts foaming up.

Sounds like a reason to drink coke.
