Sometimes there are things in dog's ears you can't see. I'm not sure if ear mites are visible or not but it's a possiblity. Most of the time the ear is just dirty, depending on how long the dog has been itching that one ear. Hours, days, weeks? you have to use your judgement the dog may need to go to the vet. I would call them if it's been more than a few days, while you at the vets have them show you how to clean out his ears. That will help you next time if it's just dirt. Good Luck!!

beagles are very prone to ear infections because of their long heavy ears, and a lot of te time, the debris is very deep in the ear where you can't see it (called an inner ear infection). call your vet and schedule an appointment to get it checked out as soon as possible to get him better. Infections are easily treated and prevented when you have the right equipment. Talk to your vet and have him/her show you how to properly clean the ears which should be done several times a week at least to prevent other infections.

Sounds like an ear infection, and going to the vet is good advice. If it isn't chronic you could go to pet Smart and get dog ear cleaner and use it for about three days, three times a day, that often clears it up. If not see the vet, but that can save you some money and clear it up. Don't fail to see a vet if it continues though.

It could be an infection deep in the ear canal. A vet can see it and will know the best way to treat it.

when my dogs get an ear infection, there is a bad smell in their ear. I was told that there is a tarry discharge from the ear when a dog has mites.
It could be allergies?

It does sound like ear mites, or she could have an infection. Get her checked out by a vet- it could be serious if left untreated.
