In the Pentecostal church I have seen kids as young as 10 legally ordained and able to perform weddings. I don't know for sure, but I bet Marjoe Gortner performed weddings younger than that, he was a legal ordained minister when he was only four years old.

The marriage is only legal with the license issued by the State which you live. Basically you are acting as a witness for a processed already started by the state. Most states also have public officials who are able to sign marriage licenses.

Wait until you must do some counseling, and then agree to marry a couple; and everything goes, terribly, terribly wrong, you may have some regrets you weren't older and more mature when you pronounced them "Husband and Wife". Please use the world "husband", God already made him a Man, you are only signing a marriage license. The only question you need ask before doing that is if they both wish to be married. The Bible does not contain marriage vows.

Only couples who want to get married can perform a marriage even priest don't do that. They are just witness to a decision made by two to get married and the rite is performed only to keep the binding official.

I'd say that's more a problem with the system. One more reason to make the only legally binding marriage one performed by a judge.

Not a dis to you, but the system. Have fun marrying off your friends. :)

It all depends upon the minimum, legal requirements in the state in which you live.

But, yeah, it sounds a bit strange.
