A hero could be considered anyone who serves the greater good. Police, Fire, Soldiers. All are doing a job, not for the money because there isn't much, because it has to be done. True hero's go the extra mile.

Very good question. I've always said that not all heroes are in uniform.
Not all heroes save lives.
Not all heroes make the news.
Heroes don't know they are heroes.
They're ordinary people that give us a memory that we find ourselves remembering years later, something they do that is so small, but it makes life all the more better.

I would honestly say that now days the title "hero" is way over used. Yes there are people out there that deserve the title but I think with how often it is being used it has taken away from its meaning.
Are we all that go overseas heros...no
Is everyone that passes away in combat heros....no
They are out there but IMO it takes a lot to receive that title respectable.

Anyone willing to carry almost a hundred pounds of gear and a gun and the belief they can make the world a better place, all in a foreign land gets my vote especially when they could sit behind a desk and push a pencil and make more money and be home every night by 5pm.

soldiers are considered hero's, because they are brave enough to join the army, and they know the consequences of maybe having to go to the war. my dad is in the national guards, and he used to be in the army, and he is a strong guy and would go to war for our country. Every soldier that i have ever talked to, is honered if they have to go to war, sure they will miss their families, but its just something that has to be done

No...you're twisting around a Soldier's responsibilities and popular jobs to purpose to make some anti-defense force element. squaddies are anticipated to stick to regulations of Engagement that incorporate getting rid of the undesirable adult men...terrorists and aggressors, all mutually as warding off harmless civilians as much as available. squaddies who wrecklessly or intentionally kill harmless civilians can and do face punishment. EDIT: specific i'm a proud American. lookup the Geneva convention, the regulations of Engagement and you will discover coaching on who the "undesirable" adult men are, because of the fact I doubt you will take me at my be conscious because of the fact that i'm an American.

They give you the right to ask stupid questions like this, and others to tell them they are stupid for joining the military to start with, by putting their @ss on the line.
