Simple...the EGG came first. Explanation...the riddle deals with symbolism. The soul represents the egg and the body represents the chicken. It's a common idea the soul comes before the body. So the egg came before the chicken.

the egg cause chicken gotta grow inside the egg , or maybe the chicken to lay the egg but where did the cockeral come from ? unless it came from the egg but then there would be no chicken .....to early to answer this i give up !!!
