What other explanation is there for it?

Karaoke morality, it's like singing a well known karaoke tune, it's not your song, you didn't make it a hit and you're just rehashing an inferior version of it to a pre-recorded backing track...same with a handed down morality, it's somebody else's not yours, it's not authentic.

That is a great question.

I think for some people it may be. It's a nice laid-out set of lyrics to follow so that they don't have to think of their own verses.

For others, though, I think religion (or a life philosophy like Buddhism) is a starting point so they can find their own path, write their own song in a genre they like.

It depends on whether your a religious person or you are following your beliefs. I think a lot of American religion i karaoke morality. When a person really follows their believes a religious gathering becomes a place where they can fellowship with others that have similar believes as they do. If a person doesn't make efforts to follow their beliefs on their own time then their association with a religious organization is all for show and could be considered karaoke morality.

What an asinine question! Karaoke is a simply fun entertainment, not a religious experience. Morality has nothing to do with it unless someone decides to rip their clothes off while singing.

That's an interesting way of putting it. I've always felt religion is for children, it gives them rules and consequences for bad behavior. But at some point, people need to grow up and do the right thing. Not because Daddy will spank them and send them to hell if they don't. But do the right thing just because it's the right thing to do.

Everyone, I think, is born with morals. Some reject them (such as Hitler), and some aren't aware of them (such as a person who is intellectually deficient). Some pervert them to fit with their own perverted mind (and I don't necessarily mean a sexually perverted person).
