My hair was thinning real bad too and my doctor put me on iron supplements and gave me B12 shots and told me to make sure I eat my dark green leafy veggies I was so badly anemic (pardon the mispelling) and most of all stop leaving the perm in so long and quit coloring my hair, hair color even rinses straighten the hair and over time the hair starts to get thin and weak and therefore start to break even. My dermatologist told me to get Rogain for women and it worked my hair grew right back even thicker, he told me that with Rogain not to expect results real fast because it works slow, in 3 to 6 months you will see regrowth. Those chemicals will kill your hair as you have seen and may cause cancer so the scientist say. Drink plenty of water, you must hydrate your system which will hydrate your hair folicles.

If you want hair to grow faster, you have to take supplements that work on your body chemistry to support hair's growth and strength at its genesis.....once it has grown out, it is just dead keratin
Try GNC, they make a supplement called "Nourishair" in formulas for men and women..they are HUGE pills and you have to take 2 daily. There is also a "Hair skin and nails" formula from Andrew Lessman that you can google, that has great ingredients and is easier to swallow, made by ProCaps labs. You can also take large doses of Biotin, sometimes called Vitamin H, take no less than 2500 micrograms daily to support healthy hair growth. It may take 6 to 8 weeks to see results.
As to the cost of Nourishair, it is about 10 dollars for a one month supply.

nuts, meat, dairy products, vegetables with iron (cabbage, spinach) etc are all great for it. try to get your hands on some iron supplements too. treat your hair kindly and you'll have plenty more years to enjoy it. that means little styling products, avoiding dye and chemicals, and not over or under washing it.
