A co-worker of mine has this problem, even when just eating some mild to medium hot chili. What causes it, and is there a solution?

I sweat and get a runny nose. Spicy food is a great way to open my sinuses since they are always blocked.

The spicy food is sensed not just by the taste buds, but also the sensors for pain & irritation.
For instance, if accidentally, u touch inside ur nose, or outside the corner of your mouth, it will cause burning sensation.

It's the capsaisin in the peppers that causes the sweating. The only solution is to stop eating them, but to cool the heat on your taste buds he should drink milk and not water or other beverages.

Tell your co-worker they're lucky..perspiration is a lot less obvious than the leaky nose i get when eating something spicy :(
