Actually, Christ calls us to follow Him. And He died and rose again. In the same way, Paul says we are to die to self and live for Christ (Gal 2:20).

The Bible is not consistent with "The Purpose Driven Life". God wants us to die to self, pick up our cross and follow Him! We don't need a purpose!!! We need the resurrected life of Jesus Christ. And when we accept Him as Lord, He lives HIS PURPOSE through us.

Have you ever wondered when the church is 2,000 tears old that there are so many "new approaches" popping up in Christianity, like no one in 2,000 years ever thought of these things. IT is because the church is getting farther and farther away from God's purposes for the church and more and more into our purposes for the church. This approached never arose because Christians followed God's purposes. As you say, in the Bible God is the head of the church and He determines what we do and gives that direction to us through his Word. Many of the questions that were asked in starting this new purpose driven approach were asked of people who are not in any way Christians, and they were asked questions like, What kind of church would you come to. The answers became the foundation for the new approach and the world has been put in the driver seat, and God has a back seat.

Since it is right to hear Christ and follow him it would be right to stop believing in the purpose driven church whatever kind of monster that may be.

The only purpose the church has is to make money.
The services are like commercials on television. Only they make more money. By convinceing people that for some reason God likes them better than other people. So if they pray for you you got a better chance of getting it.
I always wonder why do people think that some people have a better chance with God than they do?
Or he talks to some and not others?

The idea that Christ taught a Gospel of co-dependence is an urban myth perpetuated by a number of churches. You will find no basis for these in the life of Christ in the scriptures.

Personally I don't believe we are taught to be led or driven...................unless we choose to be one or the other. Some of us prefer to question and seek our own understanding.

the reason why they have religion in the first place was to control society. bad people once didn't have religion and they were in constant civil war for land and power. religions were there to control the bad people and to teach them about the after life once they are dead, to scare them.
