The real problem here is that we are supposed to be sympathetic to the blacks. They demand respect. They want to be treated as equals......and they should be.........but......they don't want equal rights they want special rights. Well if a black can call me a cracker, or Hispanics a ****, then the equal thing would be for the whites and hispanics to be able to call blacks n****s. Lets face it naming calling isn't right anyway only causes pisstivity.

Speaking from a black point of view, (yes I'm African American), I feel that it is offensive no matter who is using it regardless of race. Although it has now become part of the African American slang, my boys are not allowed to use it and are punished if they do. It's a form of disrespect and I feel that all African Americans should wise up and not stand for it.
For the record I'm agreeing with you but it's rare that I don't voice my opinion.

I AGREE !!!! You must be a very enlightened woman. I feel that this is a word showing someone's ignorance. It was created to make someone feel bad about themselves because of the color of their skin. People died to try to ensure that this word would not be used- especially by black people. However, a majority of them seem to think that it is ok, along as the color of the user isn't white.
There are so many experiences I've witnessed and seen when blacks used that negatively too. And they still use it.
I met an African man who said he was ashamed of blacks here in the USA. He said in Africa there is an equivalent word, which I've never heard before. He said that if that word was used in Africa, someone would be killed over it. Too bad black people here haven't wised up yet, maybe some day.

i totally agree...it is a useless word that has been plaguing African Americans for centuries. The women that said it must have a bias agenda toward the side of racism herself. I think the next thing that will happen...is that they will be calling each other...Monkies...and slaves....No, I am not racist either...I am African American. We need to abolish that word, the same way we did with slavery.

Words in themselves are not offensive. It's usually the intent behind it that matters. Black people started using that word among themselves as a mean of getting control of the word... to humanize it between them. And the intent behind it can't be offensive since they are themselves what they're calling the other.
But someone else that's black saying it could be interpreted as derogatory so best not try.

A word is just a word. It depends on who uses it and how they say it. A friend of mine could call me almost anything in jest were I would respond very poorly to a stranger saying precisely the same thing

I agree, it shouldn't be used at all, it is offensive to so many people. However, it is the same as when gays call each other poofters or ******, it too is an offensive word, but people feel that if they are calling themselves it is taken as tongue in cheek.
