I am thinking of redecorating my rented apartment and I realize that I have no idea where to place furniture, where to find what I want, etc. I could use some expertise. What does an interior decorator actually do? Can they get you better prices on furniture, etc? How much should I expect to pay for their services?

A decorator will help you design the room to your needs and desires, so it works for you and looks like you want. She or he will help you find the furnishings and materials you need. They will assist with paint colors, etc too. Look for ones that are part of a national association of designers. Costs vary, but you may be expecting to give them a few hundred to a couple of thousand, depending on the size and complexity of the assignment. They are fair and it is worth it. Also, start watching the HGTV channel. You will learn a lot.

they charge you a lot of money to give you a choice of colours and decor you could save this money by taking a little time to research different options on the web and also browsing different retail outlets that have furniture and decor laid out on there floors in varied selections

first you need to find the colors you want to use, normall 2 colors like black and white and one accent color that won't be used as much like red.

depending on the size of the room and how much work needs to be done they may charge anywhere from $500 to $2,000+
