personally id steam it, as with boiling u loose all the nutrients in the water. cut in equal sizes, as they will all take the same amount of time to cook.
if you can steam it, add with the liquid of the soup so the nutrients will flow in to the soup.

when making soup I put everything into the large pan together and slow boil for a couple of hours to ensure that all the flavours are blended. It's the old country farmhouse way. I have never heard of anyone cooking each ingredient seperately and then adding them all at the end. That wouldn't be soup.
I am amazed that a so called trained chef would say that boiling gets rid of the nutrients. How is this if you are using the water the veggies were boiled in, as a base for the soup?

The smaller the pieces the faster they will cook. Also, do you like them firm or mushy in your soup? Depends on your taste. Cook longer for soft and less for firmer cauliflower pieces in your soup.

Try cutting up your cauli small & sweat gently with some onions& leeks.Add stock & simmer,after about 8 mins check cauli.
[ cauli will be cooked when you poke it with a knife & its soft].
Blitz the soup, add some milk & reheat.
Season to taste.

takes about 25 mins and if you want a smooth soup liquidise it after,if you want lumpy soup though just cut it finely..can i come round for some??hee hee x

don't make it too soft or you will be better off drinking the water about 10 mins then liquidise

bout 20 mins, the smallar you cut it the quicker it will cook

IT depends. i use to take cooking class and the way you can tell if they are soft enough.....is if you can easily sab it with a fork.....bye
