Linux (ALL Versions), and Windows (ALL Versions) use DIFFERENT methods of accessing and storing data.
Linux CAN be set to READ windows files, but can NOT execute them directly.
Your computer is probably NOT set to "boot from CD". This change is made from the BIOS to permit booting from the CD.

Are you planning to run BOTH systems on the computer, or replace the Linux system?

To run BOTH you should load Windows first in a partition, and then load Linux in separate partitions.(REQUIRES at least 2)
Linux will "find" the windows and ask if you want to set up a "dual-boot" system which will give you a choice every time you start as to which one to use!

If simply replacing Linux with Windows, When the system boots from the CD, use option "Run from CD", "Command Prompt", and REFORMAT the hard drive. Reboot and load the windows system.

NOTE: Reformatting will result in LOSS of ALL files on HD.

I have various windows, linux and unix systems myself.

you have to make sure your computer is setup to boot from the cd before the hard drive. to do this when your computer boots up enter the setup by pressing: Del, F1, Control+Alt+Esc there are other ways, these are the common ways, there should be a setting labeled boot or something similar each setup varies, but enter the boot setup and select boot order (again this varies from computer to computer) and put your cd drive to boot before your hard drive and save settings
