Sugar has a wide variety of physical properties that make it extremely useful in many medicines.
>>Sugar coatings are used to protect tablets from chipping.
>>Sugar has a role in “time-released” medicines.
>>Sugar is valued in cough syrups.
>>Sugar binds ingredients together.
Those are the reasons why sugar is added to medicines and in addition, improvement of the taste in some medicines could be reason everyone can think of.♥

Think "Mary Poppins"! Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, the medicine go down .... That was written well before sugar was added to medications and it was a way for parents (or nanny) to get the children to take their medicines.

Two reasons: to make some more palatable, and secondly, the "sugar" (depending what type) molecule actually helps in faster absorption rates and transferals across the cell membrane.
