Why are people saying 'Hitler'? He was a Christian, why would he burn the New Testament Bible??

Hitler was a christian and the german army was told by the clergy in both world wars: "Got mit uns" (god is with us). So I don't understand why some people are claiming that the Nazis burnt bibles.
Sad as it is, the symbolic book burning is not as bad as the burning of actual people for heresy by the church eg during the spanish inquisition.

Bible burning has gone on since the invention of the printing press and was done in several countries by various authorities. You'll have to be more specific.

not sure but i do know that tyndale translated the bible and he had a friend called hus , but hus was burned at the stake for making the bibles and the very bibles he had made (tyndale bible) was used to be tinder for the fire but brave to the end he prophesied that in a hundred years god would send a man they could not repress
