I got a tattoo about a week and a half ago and it is really raised and looks weird. It looks bumpy and also has lines on it, it feels like a scar. Is this normal? I have other tattoos but they haven't done this before so am worried someting is wrong with it. Will it settle down over time?

don't put lotion on it! Put A&D ointment on it. That's what I've always put on my tatts and they all have healed perfectly. You can find it in the baby section with the diaper rash ointment. The zinc in the A&D will help heal it very nicely.

The bumps may also have something to do where the new tatt is located. The two on my lower back are raised up. One is 8 years old, the other one is about 5 years old, and you can still feel them "raised" up on my lower back. There is bone there (less fat) so it would protrude more (I would think) than on a part like your arm.

But yeah, it's fine. Keep it clean. Take care of it. You should be okay.

It's perfectly normal for it to be raised VERY slightly, especially if the ink was applied in a very dense line, as in a symbol tat. Anything more than a subtle rise, and I would see a doc. It's still pretty new, though... that may just be a sensitive place on your body.

yup. it's normal. maybe it looks different this time because you got it on a different area of your body that scars more easily. once the scabs fall off it'll be smooth and pretty. try using an ultra rich lotion to help the healing pprocess. preferably lotion with no fragrance or alchohol in it or it might fade the tattoo color. it should be just fine within 3 weeks.

You might be having an allergic reaction to the tattoo ink. Did you go to the same tattoo parlor as your other tattoos? I've read each place uses its own version of ink. Some of the inks can cause allergies...or even contain mercury.

It can be done but make sure you pick something meaningful and something that you won't get tired of just remember a tattoo is permanent.

Thats perfectly normal, all of my tattoos did that, its just a way of healing its self. Just dont pink of the bumps, its a scab, and if you do it will take out the color. Try rubbing really good lotion on it, like curel.

Maybe the tattoo "artist" used an unclean needle, or maybe you are allergic to something they used like the ink or the or if they used some chemical to clean off your skin or the tattoo gun, or if they covered the tatto after you got it it could be in the material.

Best thing to do is see a doctor just to be sure.

What did you do or not do to take care of it? You might try A&D onitment on it. I have always used it for 9 days and never had a problem. It may be infected so keep a close eye on it.
