It wasn't an "innuendo," - no gray area here - it was a statement of opinion.
John Kerry hasn't shut his lying mouth since the Congressional Hearings in 1967. He might realize that - alright, already, even though we're dumb, we get his message - he's against the war, against the troops, against any realistic defense of America and pretty much living in his own little, imaginary, plastic bubble of fantasy.
He has consistantly shown that his political ambitions are more important than anything that might be in America's best interests.
If the Democrats didn't hold him in such high esteem, his stupid statements wouldn't even be newsworthy.

I don't find his comment fair, but not really offensive. I don't think he meant that all people in the military are dumb. Every officer in the military has to have a college education, so I guess the succeeded academically. Lets face it though, many people join up because they don't have another option. Of course, just as many or more people fail academically and end up strung out on crack and alcohol. Guess Sen Kerry didn't want to add those options for the college kids.
It's just important to remember that not everyone, myself included, in the military joined because it was their last option. Many of us didn't expect to be in Iraq, but that didn't change my decision - and I had plenty of time to back out.
Yes, the military will help you pay for college, but that doesn't mean that everyone who asked them for help is poor. I could have afforded college on my own, but they offered me a scholarship. If you want to join, why would you say no to that?

That wasn't a lib attitude, that was stupidity. There can't be an American (regardless of political affiliation) that wasn't offended.

Well one of the reasons that I served in the military was so that anyone in this country could get up and say any damn fool thing they pleased.

Kerry didn't say soldiers are dumb. He said they didn't navigate the educational system very well, which by and large is true. Less education doesn't mean you're dumb, it means you don't have as many choices. When you don't have as much education, one of the better choices is the military.
Are you going to try to tell me that most of the people serving in Iraq planned that when they signed on? Hell no. It was a job. Or a way to pay for college. Most did not sign on hoping to actually fight.
