Actually, the non-married thing is a fairly recent thing, started during Feudal Europe to prevent theft by inheritance of church-owned properties.

Try harder.

The celibate clergy did not come into full bloom until about 1000 A.D. There were many married priests, bishops, and popes before this time.

This idea of a celibate clergy came from the Jews, John the Baptist, Jesus, and the Apostle Paul.

The Jews. The Talmud argues that a person whose “soul is bound up with the Torah and is constantly occupied with it” may remain celibate (Maimonides, Laws of Marriage 15.3). For example, Yahweh ordered the prophet Jeremiah not to marry (Jeremiah 16:1-4). Moreover, the Essenes was a group that was active in Jesus’ time that practiced celibacy and thought by most scholars to be the authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

WWJD? What would Jesus do? Jesus did not marry.

John the Baptist and Jesus are both believed to have been celibate for their entire lives. Some scholars believe that the example of the Essenes influenced either or both Jesus and John the Baptist in their celibacy.

The Apostle Paul is explicit about his celibacy (see 1 Cor. 7). There is also evidence in the gospel of Matthew for the practice of celibacy among at least some early Christians, in the famous passage about becoming “eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 19:12).

The concept took many twists and turns over the years and will probably take a few more before Christ returns in glory.

With love in Christ.

priesthood was also taken by the popes.

the head of which was the Pontifex Maximus or chief pagan priest. Catholicism's pope inherited this title from the abyss of Roman paganism.

Actually the word says "it is better to serve God alone, then goes to say that if you can not resist temptation holy matrimony has been provided"

If you research the history of the Old Testament Nimrod started a cult, ordaining homosexuals as priests, and lesbians as nuns, The pope of today still wears the costume made for Nimrod. , thus the begining of the Catholic church

I will believe Jesus Christ knew background and marital status of the 12 men chosen to be his apostles to spread the gospel. If Jesus did not make an big issue of remaining single to follow him ,why is the church making such a deal of it?

It is not mentioned anywhere in the bible that pastors, preachers, and others could not serve the Lord and have a wife.

1 Corinthians 7:1-9

1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.

7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.

8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I.

9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

This was a dumb rule made by the Catholic Church and they wonder by all these current and former priests are being defrocked and charged by underage boys!!!!

Like JP said, the vow to remain unmarried was relatively recent. Priests and Popes used to have wives and families but then when they died, they left their money and estates with their families. The Catholic church then prohibbited Preists to marry so that they get their money when they die. Same with the Nuns btw.

The Catholic church is a non-Christian cult that distorts God's Word.

They claim the Pope is the leaders of God's church, but God's Words says Jesus is the head of God's church.

And Jesus is the Rock, not Peter as the Catholic church mistakenly claim.

Also, they claim that Peter went to Rome, which is a non-biblical point. The truth is that Jesus established the church, and He named Peter to the Jewish people and Paul to the rest of the world, so we enter under the Paul ministry.

According to the Bible Paul said that it was good to either marry or not marry, but if you don't marry it is better. People who are married must think of the wants and needs of their spouse and children. People who are not married can focus all of their attention upon the things of Christ.
