I have a small, plasticy gold ring that I wear on that exact finger. It started out as a joke (I "married" my best friend during a Renaissance Faire, and it was our "anniversary"), but its just the place that the ring feels most comfortable. I have a difficult ring size, so middle finger is usually won't fit. And I have an aversion to anything on my right hand, rings, watches or otherwise. Just the way it goes.

You might generate a few questions, particularly if at or right below marriage age, but no harm done.

Well, if you want to wear a ring on that finger, then all power to you. But, like others have said, it could keep guys from approaching you--then again, that might be precisely what you want. If you are not interested in dating at the moment (or ever), then it might be a good idea.

If you are indeed in the market for a romantic partner, then I would advise against it, because the good guys (i.e.the ones you would want to date) are the ones who would see that ring and think, "Aww shucks, she's taken...I guess I'll just have to move on." But you do whatever you want.

They're your fingers ... of course, if you're desperate to get hitched, perhaps you should watch the signals you emit. But I think a lot of people probably wouldn't decide your marital status based solely on your rings.

And in any case ... we all have as much right as others to set the social conventions about what gets worn, and where :-)

How about being a trail-blazer for wearing what you want :-)

It is if she has no desire to be with men. A ring on the third finger signifies "I'm taken." This is a trick many older lesbians do to avoid being hit on by men. So pick your poison. How do you want to be seen?

You have got 9 other fingers you can put rings on instead.

I'd like to.
Just keep the pervs off my back...

Just kidding.

A lot of people would get seriously confused if you did wear a ring on your left hand, because they'd assume you're married. It might put off some potential guys.

If you don't mind men thinking that you are married, then it is fine. If you are a young teen, people will know that you are just wearing it because you like wearing it there and not because you are married. On the other hand, if you are between 20-30 people will think you are trying to pretend you are married, but then again they can think whatever they want.
