It is only wrong if you go out of your way to find out what someone believes then turn around and laugh at them. If someone offers information about their beliefs then they run the risk of being laughed at. That's life.

Absurdism is relative. Your beliefs may very well be viewed as equally absurd. Laughing just shows that you may not have educated yourself as much as possible about the other person's belief system. Even if after researching it, you do conclude that it's ridiculous to you, openly mocking at the beliefs of another is in poor taste.

Yes it is very rude, especially since while your laughing at their "absurd" belief, they are laughing at YOUR "absurd" belief.
Nobody ever happens to see the absurdity of their beliefs, mostly because , the reality tunnel that they have says that belief is normal, and everyone else out there is full of it...
Or, to put it more simply...
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

I wouldn't do it to their face. That would hurt their feelings. I find it sad that there is so much pressure on people to believe what others do, to be accepted. If you believe what you truly feel and use your head, you are often not accepted. I'd rather be myself. Unfortunately, some people will do anything to be loved. I have found that when I speak up, etc. won't tolerate racism, over time people change how they are with me. This is how things get changed. You can't change others. But you can demand to be respected. And not tolerate others being hurt. If I can't be myself, you don't really love me, anyway, you don't even know me. I guess I don't find it funny, it makes me angry that people lead others, and others follow these inhumane ideas. I just can't and won't tolerate it. I have to challenge it, if it hurts someone, otherwise, people have a right to believe what they believe. I draw the line, when it hurts someone else. Wouldn't it be nice if people were just humane to one another? Who cares what they believe, unless it is hurting someone else, which is what often happens, sometimes people try to shove their believes down others' throats. Life and let live. I've learned to love myself, and be honest with myself, and I don't care what others think, so many people are just followers, because they need others approval, because they can't approve of themselfs. I think it's sad. Sometimes people just follow, because it's easier than thinking for themselves. Some people just don't want to think, learn, or read. This I'll never understand. Because if I'm 100, I hope I'll still be learning and growing, so I can help others, that is if they are open to learning. You can't tell anything to people who think they have all the answers already. I just go my own way, and keep learning. That makes me happy. And I try to learn from others. You can't learn everything in books. People have everything to teach you, we even learn from the negative. I observe others, and I learn so much from them, and when I'm trying to help someone, it always reflects back to me, and I end up learning about myself. Others are so important. I quess I don't laugh, because I'd have to walk in their shoes, first to understand them. But that doesn't mean I don't get hurt when I'm constantly critisized, I've finally learned to say "Stop it, that's mean".

How would you feel if someone laughed at you because of your beliefs. I don't feel anybody's beliefs are absurd. I may not agree with them but hey I doubt that everyone believes in half the stuff I believe in.

Absurd beliefs are so sad. It's better to laugh than to get mad and turn into Stalin

Fine, laugh at them. But just remember that somebody probably thinks what YOU personally believe is absurd as well. You can dish it out, just make sure you can take it when it comes back to you.

well, that's probably a natural reaction. I am often amazed at certain beliefs, but I don't think I normally react by laughing. I just sit there kind of going, "Wow!" I find it fascinating.
But as far as laughing at people's beliefs, I think we need to be careful that we don't do this to their faces! I mean if you absolutely can't help it when you're alone, I guess that's ok. But we should try to respect them, as long as they don't teach something that is dangerous or really immoral.

Well, what do you mean by "absurd"? I personally think that virgin births, some guy putting all the animals in the world on an ark, and some guy multiplying food and walking on water are pretty absurd, but two billion people apparently disagree with me on that, so I don't know.

Isn't that what they're there for?
I mean, if we can tolerate each other and laugh at it all, wouldn't the world be a much more fun place?
Those crazy Muslims should have just laughed at the Pope's remarks, they would have gotten a lot more respect.
