Too awful? What does that mean?
In any case, one's own personal "ick" factor has nothing whatsoever in scientific investigation. Evolution happens whether you like it or not.

Evolution is a theory (which in scientific terms means 'most probably true') that has been developed through observation and scientific studies.
Creation is an uninformed explanation that has everything appearing by magic six thousand years ago.
Yet people will accept creationism because it offers an explanation for everything and completely and utterly reject evolution because there are a few minute points they don't agree with or haven't read the answer to. To me, this is more awful that either of the concepts.

Rape is awful, too. Does that mean that we can get rid of it, or even the idea of it, by choosing not to accept it?
Besides, I don't think evolution's awful. If anything, I think God and evolution work hand in hand. Even if there's no God or Heaven, however....well, then, all we have is this life and what we experience in it, which is an idea I actually like BETTER that the Christian notion of Hell. I'm sure that many people would agree.

disagree: evolution must not be accepted becuz it conflicts with the way the world was created. it states that in the beginning, god created the heavens and the earth and then animals and then man. it doesn't say that god created the animals then said, 'oops! i meant to create man, so i'll just change one of the species of animals into man (human).' it is an awful suggestion but that's not the reason it must not be accepted.

Fascinating how the people who slag evolutionary theory so vehemently don't actually understand it. They just make up a ridiculous story and then knock it down. Which doesn't say anything above the theory whatsoever.
Mutations happen. Genetic mutations that offer an advantage towards reproduction and/or survival tend to get reproduced in greater percentages than those that don't. That doesn't make it a continuum.
Disagree. Evolutionary theory is fascinating. Understanding it is quite useful for all of life -- we tend to look at things from the end, as if it happened for a specific purpose. The theory teaches us to look at things as they occur and to trace the route, understanding that it could have taken many different courses.

Awful? which is more awful? Evolution or this?
Kill People Who Don't Listen to Priests
Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)
Kill Witches
You should not let a sorceress live. (Exodus 22:17 NAB)
Kill Homosexuals
"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited

Evolution is not awful! It is an amazing and astonishing process which underlies all life. Evolution is so incredibly important to the field of biology that "the ability to evolve" is considered the single most important feature which seperates the animate from the inanimate.

Evolution, as well as being that which we are compelled to accept because of the overwhelming objective evidence, also reminds us of our true role in the universe, rather than us thinking we're a 'special creation' of some sort.

Awful to who?
The all powerful church? The one's who have granted you the keys to heaven for a small weekly fee as the plate goes around? The one's who want to control the information we receive because it doesn't coincide with their views?
It isn't awful. IT'S FANTASTIC. Science for the win.

I certainly accept evolution, and I don't think it's awful at all. It's the only logical way that life could have developed on earth. It's far more foolish to think that we were made out of a lump of mud, then someone blew his breath on us and bingo, there we are.To some, that sounds very logical. To me, it's a drunken nightmare.
